I called her to tell her all of the things that were bothering me.
Like......
1- When my shower was being planned, she was in the process of moving. At this time she got a new phone number and mentioned to one of my BM's not to give her new phone number to my mother because she was a 'pain in the ass' and didn't want to deal with her.
1- She couldn't look for a place to have the shower because she lived too far away (even though she is around at least once a month). She had no money to chip in (which is okay). It was then decided she would just be responsible for decorations. She called my BM the day before the shower and said she couldn't do it (she never got around to buying the decorations). So, not only did she have NOTHING to do with planning my shower but she was the last one to arrive (10 minutes before me) and the first one to leave (1/2 hour before it was even over). She also loudly proclaimed that my shower 'cost more than her wedding' for all to hear.
2- She showed up to the shower with no gift. Not even a card. She gave me a gift certificate that she chipped in with her sister for 1 month after the shower.
3- She has no interest at all in my wedding. I mean she doesn't even ask about it when we speak (which is hardly ever since the shower).
4- She lives about 3 hours away but has family who lives right near me. She comes in all of the time (at least once a month) and doesn't even call me to tell me she is in town (probably out of fear of having to do something wedding related).
I brought all of this up to her (and more). Basically her defense was that she lives far away and has a baby. When I explained that she managaes to find time to do things for herself and her sisters, she told me that I did nothing for her wedding. I told her she has 2 sisters and a mother who were VERY active in planning her shower and wedding. My mother lives in Florida and we are not so close. I have no sisters. Plus, I was not her MOH. She is supposed to be mine.
Long story short she wound up telling me-
'I am sorry that I am not all as privilaged as you to have a rich boyfried who supports me while I sit on my ass' and hung up.
First of all, I wish that I had the ability to sit on my ass. I work a 50 hour week. My boyfriend is not 'rich' ( I wish he was). This is just her being jealous because her husband is a loser. This just confirms what I have suspected all along. She is jealous of me and FH. So jealous she can hardly see straight. I called her back and her machine picked up. I told her a few choice words and told her not to bother showing up to my wedding. I also told her what I thought of her, her husband and her jealousy.
So that's it. It's over. Some friend, huh?

Re: I no longer have a MOH (very long but worth it).
I'm so sorry!! Like I said in your other thread I know exactly what you are going through ( just lost my other MOH last friday). We have very similiar situation. I was there for her for her wedding and tried to make it special and fill the void for her since she doesn't talk to her parents or half her family. She has done nothing for me. Everytime we were suppose to do something for the wedding she would blame it on work ( i told her over a month in advance) or give some excuse with her daughter (supposivly she was sick- I found out later that they went to toy store and mcdonalds).
Believe me as time goes on you will be happy with the choice you made. I can't tell you how relieved I am that i do not have to listen to her crap anymore. She really did do me a favor. I know your very angry now ( believe me I was ****ed) but soon it will turn over to relief.

I am so sorry. That really ****s. I did the same thing with my 'first' MOH. So 4 months before the wedding I asked on of the other girls in my BP (who I should have asked to begin with) and she was honored and it worked out great!

I'm sorry you had to deal with that. That ****s! But, like it's been said, better to have it dealt with now. Now you can just try to enjoy the rest of your planning with your real friends.

To hell with her.
I'm so sorry you had to go through this now....but like all the others said, better now than later.
Any ideas who you will ask to replace her?

I'm really sorry that happened. But you were right to say something to her...I'm just mortified at her response. She's obviously not the same kind of friend to you that you would be to her...better to find out now. She sounds very jealous of you and your life...that's the saddest part. Anyway you are better off!!!

Tara- same thing happened to me. She was supposed to be my best friend. Found out she could have cared less about being in the wedding, or our friendship at all, when she e-mailed me a 'thanks,but.....' letter.
So, another friendship down the tubes. Why are people so inconsiderate?

I am so sorry to hear that your MOH is such a b****. My best friend asked me to be her MOH and it was all I could do to keep from screaming in joy. It has brought her and I so close - and that is the way it should be! Is there someone else you can put in the MOH role instead who will be the support and friend that you need? It's amazing how selfish some people can be. I've heard of bridezillas, but quite honestly I think there are so many more bridal partyzillas out there!
Good for you for telling her off! You did the right thing, IMHO. She doesn't deserve the honor of being in your wedding!

Re: I no longer have a MOH (very long but worth it).
Thanks everyone. I actually feel relieved believe it or not. I am not even upset. I feel like a weight has been lifted. Oh and I forgot to mention, one of my BM's is my x-MOH's twin sister. I am sure that she will side with her sister and not be in my wedding. I can't imagine she would be. It would be a real smack in her sister's face. Oh well!

Re: I no longer have a MOH (very long but worth it).
I am sorry to here about your 'friend'
Some people are so rotten. Jealousy really is the worst situation to deal with. I have dealt with 'poisonous' people in my life, and sometimes, as sad as it seems, you are better off in the long run.
You are getting married, which is supposed to be one of the happiest days in your life. You don't need anybody like that ruining your day- or your days leading up to the big one.
I hope all works out for you, and though this may be easier said than done, don't let this bring you down- you did the right thing!

Sorry you had to go through this! It's better that she isn't you MOH though. Too bad she couldn't be a big enough person to say that she couldn't be your MOH and excuse herself from her duties b/c she felt this way. At least you don't have to worry about what she would have done at the wedding.

Re: I no longer have a MOH (very long but worth it).
Sorry about this!!! I'm glad you took the negativity out of your wedding. The same thing happened to my best friend. Another (I'll use this lightly) best friend of ours was SO upset that I was MOH that she didn't want to be in the wedding party & didn't go to the wedding! (We haven't seen her in almost 2 years) But, you did the right thing. My friend was getting so worked up about it. And her husband said 'I'm not paying all this money so that she can ruin it for you!' It's not about them it's about you!!! This is one day that you can say that!! If I were you I would talk to the twin. (I'm sure she ahs already) And she will make her own decisions. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Re: I no longer have a MOH (very long but worth it).
After your post the other day. I am glad to hear that you have resolved this situation and removed her from your bridal party. It takes a strong person to put up with the things you have been going through with her but, an even stronger person to say, 'no more'. Jealousy reared its ugly head here and I agree with the others that better to end this now then later. It was a wise choice. Now, try to move on from this and enjoy the rest of your planning...your big day is coming soon

Re: I no longer have a MOH (very long but worth it).
I am so sorry you had to deal with someone like this, especially someone you valued enough to ask to be your MOH.
As I read it, I could relate to everything, and I only wish I had to courage to do what you did to one of my BM’s. She was nothing but a pain in the arse, and I put up with it. The last straw was when we were taking pictures and the photographer had to get her attention 3 times because she was off discussing her babies and pregnancies to another one of my BM’s. But I didn’t let it spoil my day. There’s only one word for it all: jealousy. You’re better off, believe me.
