I went to Centereach Bridal Suite yesterday and ordered my dress and the BM's dresses. I placed my dress on hold a year ago, which means if it got discontinued, they'd let me know so I could come in a place the order. I showed the sales person (Racquel) a picture of my dress after she pulled my paperwork, and went straight to the dress and pulled it off the shelf. I put it on and still loved it -after 16 months. Another benefit of putting the dress on hold was the price of the dress went up $150 since we put the hold on a year ago and I got it for the cheaper price.
I also brought my sis (MOH) and friend (BM) with me to pick out their dresses and see mine BM never saw it, and sis live OOT. My sis wanted to carry sunflowers and they are my BM's favorite flower so I agreed. I bought each of them one as a pre-thank you. It worked out well because my mom (who also came) didn't think the red and sunflowers would look good together until she saw it. The girls dress are CLARET. Its deep bright red.
They each tried on 2 dresses before my sis tried on THE ONE. It has the same neckline as my dress and similar beading. They look perfect together. I loved it so much I wanted to wear it to my wedding.
NOTE: When ordering dresses, make sure not to wear your heaviest sweater. It makes it very difficult to measure you. If its cold, wear a tank under your sweater.

I guess I was lucky, I went 'shopping' once with my mom and sis once after she got engaged, in Nov '01. We were just 'playing' trying on dresses, I found one that was okay, but more then I wanted to pay. Then last summer '02, we went to look at a BM dress for my sis wedding, in the pooring rain. I tried on ONE dress and we didn't like it. I wsan't about to leave after trying on just one dress so we went to look at wedding gowns. I found pic of something I liked in a mag, the sales lady pulled out ONE dress and it was The One. I took my FMIL to see the dress about 2 months later because I kept talking about it and see wanted to see it. That's when she put it on hold. I was so happy and excited yesterday.

The dresses are very beautiful and It is even better than you saved money. I hope it is that easy when I pick my dress, the way it has been picking a photographer I can not imagine how bad I will be with the dress.

I got the pics back last night, I looked so excited. I am so happy about the dresses.
I didn't know you could put the dresses on hold either, my FMIL asked if they could let us know if it was being discontinued. That's when they told us about putting a 'hold' on the dress. I knew this was the dress I wanted when I first put it on, but it was way too early to order it, I didn't want it turning yellow. I don't know if all stores do this, but worth looking into. Especially if you aren't getting married for a while- you could save $$$ too.

The girls dresses are Claret, its a deep bright red. I LOVE them. I got some pics back. I'm so excited. Can't post them, the file size is too big.
