i PEEKED at my REGISTRY and now i'm so upset...

i PEEKED at my REGISTRY and now i'm so upset...

my mom called me yesterday and told me she was in macys and she wanted to 'see' the casual china we registered for.

ever since we registered i have felt bad b/c i had a feeling she was going to buy us our dishes and i feel like we should have registered for either fewer sets, or inexpensive dishes.

so i check my registry just now to see if she really was 'just looking'...and i find that she didn't just get us the place settings...she also got us the extra salad plates w the design on them, the sugar bowl, the salt and pepper shakers, and the gravy boat. everything together ended up being a lot of money!

the reason i'm so upset is b/c i know she can't really afford it...she lives on her own, works at a job that doesn't pay her what she should be making, and i just know she really shouldn't be spending so much on us.

it's so silly, i should be excited that we're getting the dishes i wanted so bad, but i can't believe she got ALL of the sets for us and all the other stuff. it's so nice of her but i just feel SO bad right now.

Aww, don't be upset. I am sure it made her SOOOO happy to do that for her daughter. Maybe to thank her, you can treat her to something special after the wedding?

Your mother bought them for you because she wanted to - don't feel guilty!!!

Think of it this way - its the only chance she is going to have to do this for you - let her do it and be happy with her!!! She is probably SO EXCITED about giving it to you!!!

It will probably make her so happy that she figured out a way to make it work!!!

Don't feel bad....she just wants to do something nice, i'm sure it actually makes her feel good that she was able to buy all of that stuff for you guys..

I agree with pp. Just think about how happy she was buying and how she probably cant wait to see the look on your face when you open her gifts. Don't say anything, enjoy it and let her have the moment of giving it to the both of you.

awwww, that's so sweet. Don't feel bad, as difficult as that may be. I agree with above comment, that you can treat her to something fabulous after the wedding to show your appreciation.

Be happy....as happy as she may have felt buying you your gift!!

WOW so funny but same thing just happened to me. I saw today that somebody bought our china, and then all of a sudden i was like WOW its alot i feel bad lol. I mean obviously whatever is bought nobody is obligated to buy so not like they had to pay that much but it was just a weird feeling lol.

I am sure it means alot for your mom to do this for you

i know ur upset but its her little girls wedding!!!! im sure she has put soem $$ away to get them...if it would really break her im sure she would have gone for something else dont worry i think she just wanted to be the one to get it...not someone else!!

so you can say ' these are the dishes my MOM got me!! arent they beautiful!!'

Aww Jeanette...Don't be upset. It probably made your mom very happy. I get the same way when my mom spends lots of money on something for me- but this probably made her feel very special. Maybe you can (as some of the other girls suggested), get/do something very nice for her after the wedding-to show her your appreciation.

Don't be upset! Be excited.. this is what your mom wanted to do for your gift! That should be a wonderful thing. She may not be in the best fincial state, but she could have been planning on doing this for a long time!

as a mom I completely understand why she bought what she did and let me promise you that no matter what she has to do to make that happen she did and it probaly makes her feel really good to have done it !! She loves you and is sharing in the special time you are having !!!!! Dont feel badly! I can gaurantee she wouldnt want you upset about it she wants you to enjoy it !

I agree with kelly bean, it probably meant so much to get them for you. I know it's a bad feeling but you will always have them and when you use them know how much she loves you.

try not to feel upset...she did it because she loves you and is happy about everythign that is going on...She is proud and wants to show it and that is how she is going to show it...

i know how you feel, FH's parents did the same for us. when i found out, i started crying, cause i get very moved, but i know it meant a lot to FMIL to do this for us, and if they really couldn't afford it, they would've gotten less. this is a really special time, and our parents do tend to go above and beyond for our weddings. when you open the gift, and she sees your face and how happy you are, that's the moment she's waiting for. enjoy it!!!
