my mom called me yesterday and told me she was in macys and she wanted to 'see' the casual china we registered for.
ever since we registered i have felt bad b/c i had a feeling she was going to buy us our dishes and i feel like we should have registered for either fewer sets, or inexpensive dishes.
so i check my registry just now to see if she really was 'just looking'...and i find that she didn't just get us the place settings...she also got us the extra salad plates w the design on them, the sugar bowl, the salt and pepper shakers, and the gravy boat. everything together ended up being a lot of money!
the reason i'm so upset is b/c i know she can't really afford it...she lives on her own, works at a job that doesn't pay her what she should be making, and i just know she really shouldn't be spending so much on us.
it's so silly, i should be excited that we're getting the dishes i wanted so bad, but i can't believe she got ALL of the sets for us and all the other stuff. it's so nice of her but i just feel SO bad right now.

Be happy and feel loved... and most of the time they throw in the salad or soup bowl when you purchase a setting! congrats

you are a really sweet daughter ..... and thats probablly the reason why your mom wanted to be so generous... congrats on getting them - and its really sweet to think about your mom before youself!!

wow hon....it's ONLY tuesday and you are having one heck of a week!
I have to tell you that the way you have reacted says so much about you that I'm taken back. You are a wonderful, selfless person & I hope you take pride in that.
Now comes the hard part. You have to accept that your mom is a grown woman & she wouldn't do anything to jeopardize her finances. There's a chance that she has been putting a few dollars aside every week in order to buy you such an amazing gift. Maybe she got a new cc in order to get them for you...and there is nothing you can do to change what is done.
I think it would possibly devestate her to know that you are upset about her gift. You have to realize she's your mom & wants to do lovely things for you...

Your mother LOVES you and is probably thrilled beyond belief to get you your dishes. And just think, everytime you use them, you'll think of her.

awww dont feel bad.... your mother bought that for you from the heart and she will be so happu seeing the look of excitement on you face when you open your prsents... so be happy.... u are a very lucky girl!!!!

i wrote this post the other day and now looking at my recent posts i feel like i'm such a whiner!

Don't be upset. I am sure she was very happy to get them for you. You don't know she could have been putting money aside each week fo awhile to get them. So it's ok.
