I posted this once before, but at what age (if any) should kids have a TV in their room?

This is a big debate in my family, so I'd like some other opinions

No TV in their room until they are at least in High School and then I would only give them public TV so they can't find the bad stuff on cable
Seriously, kids should treat their bedroom as a playroom/sleeping room only. They should be watching TV with their parents (supervised) - meaning not able to watch whatever, when no one is looking.

agree!

I had a TV in my room starting when I was 13...We had tvs in the den, the kitchen, parents room and my sister had one also - all wired with cable. The only rooms that didnt have them were bathrooms, formal living room and dining room. I think I watched TV equally in the den and my own room - the TV in the den was bigger.

I guess that's why I enjoy TV so much - in a way I think its good because that way everyone can watch what they want but its also bad because you become isolated in your room and you cant monitor what your kids are watching.....but then again my philosophy is this isnt the 1950's.....I dont know but I think under 13 is probably too young.

ETA: I dont think TV is that harmful to teenagers - I turned out fine!

see, i too had a tv in my bedroom at age 12 on...black and white 5 inch with rabbit ears, then color 5 inch, then color 13 inch. but never had cable, so basically, i got regular tv and my mom was good about me not having it on all day and i usually had it on for company b/c i was always alone and needed to hear voices. hope that makes sense. but there was nothing bad on tv then. but for my kids, there is too much access so when they come along, there will be access to things that i don't want them to see.

As for the DVD player in the car... I would never have made it upstate in the car with Emma and myself without it. Im all for less distraction for the driver and more keeping the child occupied!

We have a portable TV that I put in the car for long trips, when he gets antsy we put a movie on, helps ALOT!! - I don't have one installed in the car (which is pretty funny considering that's what my FH does ) because I don't like Jordan to watch too much TV.
