FH ruined it. He really didn't understand the concept. There was a lot of 'We don't need that (fine china, flat wear, a picture frame, toasting flutes, towels). A lot of 'No one is going to buy that' Oh yeah and 'We could always buy that ourselves' and then some 'Where are we going to put that?' I got fed up and left. Honestly, if it's going to be like that, I don't even want to do it.
ETA: the only thing he seemed to care about was Christmas plates... I said I don't want them. Thats why you get fine china

My FH was the same way.
But you should just let him register for what he wants....and then do what I did, delete the stupid stuff later.

Re: I really didn't like registering...
Dont worry. The same thing happened to me. I think the entire thing can be a little overwhelming. I was just like your FH telling my fiance that he was pickign too much stuff. Remember this is supposed to be fun. Do little by little

Leave him home next time. I agree, registering was such a pain to me too, but if he's going to be that way and not help out then go with one of your BMs or your mom.

I got alot of that too - but I just countered 'We don't NEED it, but I WANT it and it is SO CUTE' Threw in a bit of puppy dog eyes and that was that
BTW - I am DYING for Xmas plates - and FH is so anti-Xmas china. I think we would use it more than fine china honestly. He is so damn pragmatic, but I see all this cute stuff and have little fantasies of cute dinner parties

I would have left him home and went back with your mom or your MOH.
Thankfully my FH actually enjoyed registering with me.
You should go on a Sunday when hes home watching football.

Re: I really didn't like registering...
we registered today, and we dont have a date yet! haha. long story why we dont have a date yet, but i cant set it until december.
we had a good time. he wanted something and if it sucked then i said 'no'. then if i said 'i like this' and he would say 'no' then i would say 'too bad'.
then towards the end he caught on and was like 'why is everything that i like automatically get a no and then when i say no to something you like it gets a too bad?'
my response, 'that is just the way it is'. and it all worked out.

Re: I really didn't like registering...
I am so sorry you had a bad time!!!
But... At first I had the same situation... But then I told him he could register for anything in the entire store that he wanted too!!! So he put down,Flat Screen TV's, Stereo's, Choc fountains, Vases for like 300 bucks, Paintings...
That's the trick!!!
Then I just went online and deleted it all!!!
HAHAHHAHAH!!!! I DID... I am so bad...
Sorry honey... No one got us the Flat Screen TV you registered for... I wonder why?

Im sorry you didnt have a good time. I agree to let him pick what he wants. FH chose pilsners and pints at Crate and Barrel and my sister bought them for his birthday. He was very excited about it!

FH didn't care what I was choosing, just as long as he got to use the scanner gun

Re: I really didn't like registering...
mine was the same way. I ended up doing most of it by myself and fixing it online. I would send him the link and he would tell me if he didn't like anything. he doesn't really get the concept. 'I told him, at no other time in your life will people just buy you a kitchenaid mixer or china. you need to do it now!'

Re: I really didn't like registering...
my FH took off with the scanner at both B,B&B & Fortunoff. He put some crazy things on the registries that we have NO USE for, and never will (a wine fridge? we don't even drink wine )
so, when we got home, I deleted a lot of what he added.
he never even noticed
