I really need some opinions...

I really need some opinions...

As you all know my baby at 36 weeks is 8.5 lbs already. Well, I just don't know how much longer I can handle the aches and pains. I'm only 5' 3', and my belly is REALLY big. I am in such pain all below my belly from the weight of the baby, that I can't get comfortable. I can't sit, stand, lay down, stick pillows under my belly, nothing without something hurting. It just pulls and pulls and there's no more room!!! I'm walking like I just had surgery! Anyway... my question is that should I call my Dr.'s office and speak to someone about having this baby early? It's getting really bad physical wise. I see all different doctors, and the last one, well yesterday, doesn't want to check the size of him again until 39 weeks? Now, if he grew 3 lbs in just under a month, who's to say he won't grow another 3 lbs. in the next few weeks. Then at that point will leave me no choice but a C-section? Do you know what I mean? I'm having a sonogram every week up until he's born but just to check the Amniotic fluid because it's on the high end at the normal level. Whatever that means! I just feel that if they check his weight every week, to see if he's getting a lot bigger, I can still choose how to have this baby. I personally don't know what I want, but I know I can't carry him until then. My body can't handle it. All I can do is cry about it, because it hurts! If you can give your honest opinions on this situation, I'd really appreciate it. I just don't know what I should do.

How does your DH feel about it?

I say if you are uncomfortable, and it is safe to do so, go for it.

Feel better Melissa

Melissa I'm going through the same thing which is why I have been asking to be induced too..
Thing is, MOST hospitals (not sure if its a new york thing or not) will not do any sort of inductions until 1 week before your due date.
I just found that out.
Its some law or something now.
They are letting me make an apt for myself at 39 weeks.
Yes, you should def call though and talk to your doctor about your concerns

Melissa talk to your doctor. I am sure they can tell you if the level of discomfort is normal or if they would consider it severe.

I have started feeling increasingly uncomfortable - to the point where I would prefer to just lay down all the time - and even THAT is not so pleasurable... I am also being told regularly that I must be having twins - I honestly think people dont' realize how big a woman's belly gets when she is almost full term. I just think a lot of women stay in when they are full term instead of showing it off at the mall like me! But what's a preggo to do at Christmas time, 8 months pregnant?

I doubt the baby will grow another 3 pounds...it would be unlikely. You don't have much longer to go - but check with them and let them know your concerns. I am only 5'1' so I understand your discomfort. I have gained 40 pounds and it's all sticking out in front of me. Sometimes I feel like I am going to just flop over - but somehow I stay upright. The pulls and pains and pressure are normal though - I mean you have a full term human being in there. A healthy big one at that!

Re: I really need some opinions...

Most doctors won't induce on the first baby purely on size. But it cant hurt to discuss what's going on with your doctor, maybe his philosophy is different and since Im not a obstetrician, what do I know? The end is very uncomfortable for everyone though so you're not alone. I could not get comfortable at all at the end and every day that I went past my due date, I got increasingly stressed.

The thing about the measurements of the baby while it is still inside you is that it is just a guesstimate based mainly on head size. I remember worrying about the same thing actually. I was told the baby was 8 1/2 lbs around week ?? (I forget but at the end) and then I feared that I would only be able to deliver via c section, thinking the baby would gain alot more weight. I am sure even if you went full term, your baby will not gain a pound a week. I know they say that but the baby doesnt get that big that fast.

I dont know if this helps but definitely discuss any concerns with your doctor, I think that's a better bet than stressing yourself.

I wouldn't do it.

No one ever said the last weeks of pregnancy are fun or easy, but we endure it for the sake of our babies. Would you take a turkey out of the oven before it was done because you were tired of cooking it?

I was in your boat a few weeks ago, and I never once considered being induced early because of the baby's size. I was going to be induced AT my due date because of his size, but he had other plans.

It'll be over soon, and you'll make it to the end, I promise.

I know this doesnt help but at 34 weeks the docs told my cousin that her son was 7lbs!!!! If she went to term she would have had a 12lb baby. She was induced 2 1/2 weeks early and had a 5lb 15oz baby...

Im sorry about the pains you are in. I hope you can find a solution!
