Where is the dog? I would bring it to an animal hospital PRONTO! Is it still there? Seriously if no one is able to I will go get the dog myself and bring it to an animal hospital if it's still out there. Let me know ASAP...

.

ugh.. this brings back bad memories when I hit a dog. Actually, another car hit it first and then I did. (The other car sped away) It was a puppy too ANYWAY, i took the dog and the person who was 'walking it' into my car and sped to the vet. They ended up having to put it to sleep.

But warning... Don't EVER do what I did!! lol The person who came with me who was walking the dog was actually the owners brother so I was kinda lucky. BUT if i took it by myself I would be responsible for all of the vet bills. They owner actually tried to sue me but obv. that didn't work. (The dog wasn't on the leash)
I would go to the police precient. I think it's illegal for someone to hit a animal and not even stop. Esp. if it's a pet and it belongs to someone.

I would file a police report. Its a hit and run. Cant believe 311 wouldn't help you. Hope the A-hole gets caught!

You could call the ASPCA/Humane Society. If they can't come they can probably recommend what to do.

If that didn't work I would bring the dog to an animal hospital. I would try calling ahead and explain the situation to see if they would take it and not charge you, plenty of them won't. Or, if I couldn't find one that wouldn't charge, I'd make sure it was open and then leave the dog in front of the door to the animal hospital, go around the block and call them to let them know it's out there and was hit by a car or whatever and needs help. That way it would still get help... it's not the most honest thing in the world to do in sticking the vet with it, but to me if there wasn't a better solution getting the dog to see a vet would be more important to me than that.

That is so sad, that broke my heart and I was not even there. Some people are so horrible. You did the right thing!
