I should have paid attention to these threads before...

...but I didn't.

How much do you think is 'average' to give at a co-workers wedding?

I wrote the check out... and just want to make sure I'm on the right track. The last two weddings I went to were good friends of mine, so that was different.

Thanks, everyone! That's about what I was thinking but didn't want to underestimate.

Well, he's having a lot of guests... and I'm 99.99% I'm covering my plate... but I also know he got a lot of CH extras. We're no longer in the same dept, so I haven't seen him in awhile... so we stopped comparing wedding planning war stories.. LOL.

I would say $150-$200. Typically, when I go to a wedding and give money, I try to give the same as my plate and a little extra.

are you attending by yourself or with your FH?

Are you going alone or with FH? I never give less than $300 for a couple...and sadly I'm not even sure that is covering my plate at some places. If it's a really good friend or family member I will give more...but never less than $300

ITA - I would never give less than this at a wedding if you are invited with a guest

Re: I should have paid attention to these threads before...

for going alone to any wedding, the minimum i would give is 100 and just doubled to 200 if going with a guest.

So for a friend/coworker is you are not very close to, this is what I would give personally.

If you are closer, then I would go up from that depending on how much you can afford obviously and how close you are.

I would just keep in mind...that it's very unlikely that $100 pp would cover your plate...especially with tax and gratuity added on. I think $150 pp is the min these days. JMO

I do agree - I guess you have to take in consideration time of year and where it is - before i added stuff on becuase i am getting married on an off month $100 would have covered my plate
