By sheer luck I happened to be vacationing this week in Cape Cod when my girlfriend called and told me that Filene's Basement was having their annual bridal clearance. For those of you who have never heard of this it is a massive sale where all dresses are either $249 or $499 depending on the maker. To make a long story short, after much haggling, waking up at 5 am, jumping through clothing racks in a mad run to grab dresses, I found a BEAUTIFUL Amsale gown (current year and originally sold at Saks) for $499 (original retail way over 3k). Here is the dilemma: I bought the dress b/c I really liked it, however I had originally planned to purchase a dress from Demetrios(have not ordered as yet). I don't know which to choose. Also, since my wedding is not until next August I am not sure how to store this dress properly so it will still be pristine next year. any advice would be appreciated!!!!!!
Thanks girls!

wanna be a two-dress bride? at $499 for an amsale, you can't go wrong.
as far as storing it, put it in an air-tight container and lie it flat (no hanging) somewhere cool and dark...

First of all, congrats for actually finding a dress at Filene's! I think you should definitely keep this dress. If you really like it and only paid $499 for a current Amsale, that is amazing!

leave it hanging! I've had my dress in my closet for more than 2 months now. it's in a zippered bag and I left the zipper open slightly for ventilation. I check on it every few weeks. it's fine!

I would def go with the Amsale dress! That is an incredible deal!!
Another option is that you can bring it to a place where you would get your alterations and store the dress with them.

Keep the Amsale! What a deal! I had mine stored in my house for over six months and it was perfect.

Thanks ladies. I have mine hanging now in one of those plastic bags that they give you, but to be honest the dress is so large that it is squished in there. I will def. leave the plastic open for ventilation. I will try to post pics of me in both dresses if I get the chance. (I will need to try to sneak a pic of me in the other dress from Macy's).

Is the Amsale style very different from the Demetrios one? Amsale dresses are made with silk so maybe you can have a taylor make some alterations to it so its like the Demetrios style but you get the to use the more expensive fabric.
Amazing deal by the way...congratulations!

The Amsale dress is pretty different. It has box pleats and the Demetrios has a rouched bottom which I loved! It is such a hard decision!!!! I figured if I decide against the Amsale I could always resell it.
