I think i figured out when my shower is and don't know what to do...PLEASE HELP (UPDATED!)

I TOTALLY want my shower to be a surprise and made a big deal out of this... My mom has made EVERY possible effort to keep it a secret. My wedding isn't until October 12th so it is still a way off but, i think i figured out when it is tentatively scheduled for by accident (long story)...should i say something? Maybe to my FH or BM who could let it slip to my mom that they should change the date or should i keep my mouth shut? I will just feel so bad if they go through the effort of making it a surprise and i am right!

IMO, dont say anything. if they are planning it to be a surprise they have probably gone out of their way to do so already. i thought i had mine figured out and i was wrong! if you really want it to be a surprise, just dont think about it!! (thats what i did -and really, looking back now, because i wanted to be surprised, i let a lot of 'clues' pass by w/o even noticing!).

I wouldn't say anything either.....I would just let it slide. I wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings

IMO, i wouldn't say anything. i figured out when my shower was, and my mom was really disappointed. (although it was no big shock - almost all my aunts and cousins live out-of-town and i knew they would be around in late july for our family reunion).

definitely act surprised!!!

Thanks girls...the only thing i am thinking is that...nothing has been done except the date being picked (since it is september) so i figure if i say something now they can change the date before anything is done..what do you think?

I planned Sept20yay!'s shower and although her mom blabbed the date accidentally there was still enough there so she was totally floored and surprised...I'd leave it alone.

Act surprised. You might be wrong about the date. i was. They totally surprised me and I was so sure I knew when it was. If you are really concerned, then tell FH and let him figure it out. That's what I did, but it didn't matter because I was completely wrong anyway.

i have such a BIG MOUTH...i just posed a 'hypothetical' situation to FH...anyway...so i told him i thought i knew the date and he convinced me to tell him...he was like - you only have one shower and you really want it to be a surprise...blah blah blah. So anyway, i told him on the condition that (1) he will not tell me if i am right and (2) he will not mention it to my mom UNLESS she has not started actually planning it yet.

Did i do the wrong thing?

That is almost exactly what I did and I was wrong anyway. I don't think you did the wrong thing at all. It was the perfect way of handling it. Now it is out of your hands, so don't worry anymore!

Surprises are hard anyway b/c you have to plan for that day or you'll make other plans (I found out when mine is b/c the GTG is on the same day. When I asked FH if we had plans that day he turned all red and I knew). I'm not saying anything to the planners though, how could I make them change the date and cancel it on the people they've already invited?
