I think I found my gown...is Macy's Ok?

I am not one of those brides that enjoys trying dresses on. (I get nervous and often feel self conscious). But my MOH made me try more dresses on today. I fell in love with a beautiful demetrios gown at Macy's in the Smithaven Mall. Is this a bad place for me to get my gown? I have heard some bad things before, but I love this dress and I really want to just order it. Any Macy's feedback would be wonderful! Thanks ladies...

That's where I got my dress!

I found my dress and fell in love with it there. It is also a Demetrios gown. My consultant is Peggy, and she has been wonderful. I had gone to a few places other than Macy's Smithhaven, and found I didn't get the personal care or service I got there. I feel very confident and secure about my decision. I also thought (this is also because I used to work in Macy's Smithhaven) that Macy's wouldn't allow a leased dept like the bridal dept. to rent space unless it was honorable. This bridal place has been there for many years. I have never heard anything neg. about them. My advice for you is make sure you have shopped around. I happen to love Macy's bridal, but just make sure you feel comfortable with your decision- that is go with your gut feeling. Any place you look at will have it's pos. and negs. I wish you luck. If there's anything else I can do for you, let me know. Kelly

I think I found my gown...is Macy`s Ok?

I got my demetrios dress at macys in manhasset. I heard once again good and bad things about this store but I have to tell you...they were wonderful with me. Granted the dress has not come in yet but if the saleswomen and fitter are as nice as they were when I bought the dress, then I have nothing to worry about. I absolutely loved them and would recommend them to anyone. Good luck!

I think I found my gown...is Macy`s Ok?

I found my Demetrios gown at Macy's (Smithhaven Mall) as well. I did not have a good experience there. I made appointments every time I went and the consultant that was helping me was always helping at least two other brides at the same time. I also didn't think they were very nice. I found them to be VERY expensive so I ordered my gown from Burton's (in Huntington), saved $400 off the price of the dress and they're giving me a headpiece of my choice for free. I also thought the alteration prices at Macy's were rediculous - Mine will only be a max of $80. I have heard good and bad things about the Smithhaven Mall Macy's so I think a lot of it might have to do with who helps you. If you feel comfortable there, go for it - Good luck!

I also found my demetrios dress from Macy`s in SmithHaven. I have had nothing but good service. The cap for the alterations is $175 and if you do not need $175 worth of alterations they refund you the rest. I have not got my dress yet but the manager has been nothing but plesent, it is scheduled to come in at the end of July for my Nov wedding.

I think I found my gown...is Macy`s Ok? (Really long)

I was recently MOH in a wedding where the bride & all of us girls got our dresses at Macy's Smithhaven Mall. All of teh dresses came in fine & on time, but the bride just wasn't very happy with the service in general. she felt it was totally commission driven so that you could really only work with the saleswoman from whom you had ordered your dress, even if it wasn't convenient for you. This was a problem for me b/c I live in Chicago. We also found that even when you had an appointment it was sometimes crowded & the sales person was helping several girls. Lastly, & I know this kind of happens everywhere, they ordered all of our dresses at least 3 sizes too big. I mean, these things were massive. The dresses still looked ok, but not exactly how they were supposed to. For example, my neckline was significantly higher than the other girls' b/c the dress was so big they had to take off several inches at the shoulders. All in all, everything worked out, but I know my girlfriend probably wouldn't recommend the place. Good luck!
