If anyone of yu read my bachelorette party post you will remember my drunken friend banged her head into my nose while she was having a drunken fit, and it resulted in a bloody nose. Now it is Wednesday (the party was Saturday) and my nose still hurts. The shape looks normal, maybe a tiny bit swollen. Yesterday my nose was running a lot and when I wiped my nose I heard a few cracks and it hurt sooooo bad. It is that piece in between my nostrils, where that piece connects to my head, is where it hurts.
So now what do I do? Should I get an x-ray? Where do I go for that? I no longer have a PCP... is there somewhere else I can go for just an x-ray? I have oxford freedo select insurnace so I don't need referrals.

I'd definitely go to the doctor! Go on the Oxford website - it'll help you find a doctor.... probably an ear, nose & throat doctor.

you should see a regular dr first...call a few of the those clinic places like Med first, if not , call a radiology place in the area, ask for an appointment..heres the thing, the radiology places DONT want to give you the results, they want to give them to a DR, so they may not see you without a script from a regular internist or such...
HAd to mention that what you described is EXACTLY how I broke my nose about 8 years ago, my friend was standing up on the bed, I was laying down, she slipped on the comforter, her head hit my nose and boom...but mine was crooked on my face so obviously broken...BUT...you may not notice it now but when it starts to heal, if its broken, it will form a bump at that point and not now..
GO see the dr Julz! Where are you located? I have lived all around, I can probably send you to someone who can get you an appointment right away? lol

I live in kings park but I work in Stony Brook. There are plenty of dr.s around here. I will look someone up... I guess a regular dr. first?

You'll probably get in to see someone like an internist easier or quicker then an ENT...and they may be able to tell you if its broken or not.

I'm so sorry Are your eyes black at all? I know that tends to happen with a broken nose. Maybe it's just some broken cartilage or something? Get it checked out ASAP. I hope it's not broken. Feel Better!

Yes I am thinking it is the cartilidge... My eyes arentr dark but I feel really tired and my head is achy.

I have Oxford & when I fell in the subway tracks & had a leg injury, I called thet Docs clinic by my job & they tl dme to go to a diffet oen that had x-rays right there & I did, & thencalled oxford to change my primary to one of the Doc's Drs, & then they did x-rays right away.

Yikes! Thank goodness it doesn't look bad! I am sure ice will take care of the swelling but I would def. get an x-ray ASAP!

better safe than sorry
and you got 1 month before the wedding for it to heal
call oxford and ask them to help you find a pcp in your area
i woudln't go to the hosp ER - you'll be waiting hours.
but tell the dr. you go to that your wedding is in 1 month and if you need x-rays it has to be asap so you will know if it's broken and what course of action you need to take.

I don't, I'm in NYC now , but I know they have Docs in Westchester, maybe they have them in Suffolk too.

no just a little. it is not the top bone it is the part in between the nostrils.

If it bleed. Even a little I guess it could be broken The break not be that bad though. Ill be honest. My nose break wasnt that bad so the just left it alone!

I'd call your primary care doctor and explain over the phone what happened and see who they suggest you see.
