I think I now agree with my MOH... what do you think?
To save some money...
If I'm doing a candy buffet as my guests are LEAVING as part of my favor, should I nix the whole chocolate fountain thing??? (even though I really want one?) The candy buffet is part of my favor (spending about $1000 on my favors already!)... not part of the dessert, so it wouldn't EXACTLY be chocolate overkill.
We're already doing a sundae station as part of the dessert.
My hall wants to charge me almost $1000 bucks for the chocolate fountain, which is INSANE for chocolate. GOLD should come out of that thing for $1000 bucks!! My MOH says that the chocolate fountain has pretty much already been 'done' now at so many weddings, that it's not worth that price since so many people have seen it.
The thing is, I've only been to one or two weddings that have had it... so I think it's still unique to a lot of people. But $1000 is still a LOT of money!
Believe it or not, this price is ALREADY the 'talked DOWN' price I got from my reception site!!!
What do you think? Nix the chocolate fountain or go for it?

i loooove sugar, but even that sounds like a lot to me. i think the chocolate fountain is a very nice touch, but honestly, i don't think people will miss it if you don't have one. hth!

If you're having the candy buffett, I say nix it. Save the money for something else. The candy buffett is going to be just as cool, and you're having a sundae station, so you don't want to overdo it.
Then again, if you really want it, it's totally up to you!

I'd nix it. Truthfully, I stay away from those at weddings because they're messy.

It's not worth it!
I think more people will be interested in the candy buffet. I've been to a lot of weddings, seen a lot of chocolate fountains, but, never a candy buffet!

Plus you are having a sundae for part of dessert as well.

I'd prefer the chocolate fountain to the candy buffet, but if you are already doing the buffet and the sundae thing then the fountain is too much of a good thing

i think the candy buffet is more unique! $1000 is a lot of $ for the chocolate fountain.

Too much $$$$$ in my opinion. And if you're having a sundae station, that sounds great! We had that too and people are still talking about how great it was to have ice cream.

I definitely think you should save the money.... and skip the chocolate fountain, plus, i think people will even be MORE excited by your favor if you don't have a fountain you'r favor is soooo awesome!) this way they won't be like, oh the favor is nice, but more chocolate?

sarah dont do the fountain the candy buffet will be great and enough.
Re: I think I now agree with my MOH... what do you think?
If you really want the fountain then I would get rid of the ice cream station. I'm just thinking out loud here but Alcohol and ice cream do not mix. You obviously can't have all the things you really want bc of the $$$ situation which is a bummer. If it were me I would think about what I would really want and get rid of an item or two. Hard decisions Good luck!

I would do without the chocolate fountain, save the money, sounds like you will have plenty of desserty type foods.

If you are having a sundae station-I really don't think you need the chocolate fountain-personally I'd rather eat from the sundae station.

I would have to agree with this. And, if you decide on the fountain, there are vendors that bring to the hall for less - don't get it from your hall - they are ripping you off. I got mine from Schakolad for a little over $500 I believe (I supplied him with dipping stuff that I got at Costco, which my hall set up for free, but he was planning on doing it himself). Good luck!

I am over the whole chocolate fountain thing and I have always thought they were a little gross for some reason.
