I think Im a freak

Umm ok so I love FH more than anything in the world.. and we will be together 7 years in feb.

Now.. my issue is.. I DO NOT show my emotions in public.

The thought of saying those vows in front of my family and friends seriously makes me hyperventalate.

I am a teacher and speak in front of teachers, coworkers, studenst etc everyday, and yet the thought of being all emotional in front of all those people makes me want to puke.

We had to go in front of the congrgation at the pre cana mass with 30 couples and all say stuff to each other and I started laughing and couldnt look FH in the eyes.

I justwatched the friends episode where monica and chandler get married and I my chest was getting all tight thinking about having to do that
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??!???!!??

I never thought I would feel like that, but I am an emotional mess and the more I think about walking down the aisle and having everyone look at me, makes me feel scared, very NERVOUS!!!

It makes me nervous as well! Fh wants to get body mics because the church is so big and it terrifies me.

Well I am glad I am not alone.. I have NEVER experienced this type of anxiety before and I have anxiety attacks on occasion

It makes me nervous as well.. Im sure you will be so caught up in the moment that day, you wont even realize that anyone else is there besides your FH!!

You're so not a freak Jen! The thought of having to walk down the aisle with everyone staring at me scares the life out of me!! I get so nervous just thinking about it. I'll let you know how it goes in 2 1/2 months.

I have the opposite problem - my fiance is freaking out about all the attention that's going to be on him that day. To avoid all of that pressure, we are meeting before our ceremony. That way, he won't have to worry about censoring his reaction to seeing me for the first time in front of a room full of people. He also will be miked, so all of the romantic things we say to eachother will be caught on video.

When you are saying your vows, keep in mind that you will be dressed like a bride. You will be a bride. You will not be in your casual clothes in a room full of strangers (like in Pre-Cana), you will be in front of your very soon to be husband, and I am sure that the emotion of the day and the love you feel will block out the crowd.

Having just had to open my heart to the Rabbi yesterday when he asked me flat out why I am marrying FH, I can certainly understand why anyone would have anxieties. Sometimes we cant put things into words - especially the most intimate details of our lives. But when you get up in front of G-d and those who mean the most to you, you will have their love and support. Your focus will be on your FH. Everyone else's face will be a blur and its all about the two of you.

At my handfasting, when we said our vows, I was so embaressed. I just wanted to hide my face in my FH chest. I know what you mean, you don't want to expose this side of yourself. The idea of my ILs seeing this, does make me sick as well. Your not alone. Maybe we should ask advise at the newlywed chat.
