This week has been nothing short of a nightmare. I was on vactation last Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sat. I requested the days off in Feb, had my boss sign the request form and reminded her the Monday before I left (as she told me to). When I got back to work I had alot of emails to sort through. She sent me nasty emails while I was out which appeared to be written stream of conscience as things came up day by day. They got nastier and more acusatory as the days went on. She never said welcome back, how was it, or even a 'good morning' when returned to work.
Then, yesterday, she called me into her office and started crying, telling me that when so and so leaves the department (TODAY), she doesnt know if I am going to be able to handle the added responsibilies. And also critized me for not having my out of office on in outlook when I was away. (I checked, it was on, plenty of people received it) She then sent me a nice email polietly asking me to do something. She cries then yells, then gives the silent treatment. I dont know what to do, I am worried that I am going to be fired. I cant take working for such an unstable person anymore.

I am patiently awating my call from HR right now, my boss actually gave me the 'heads up'. Is that not wierd???

If that's the case and you think you may be fired or 'reprimanded' then get up there and totally give the boss up - let it all out and get let go anyway. At least you know you have said your piece. And when you walk out, write a letter to HER BOSS and the head of HR to follow up on the way you were treated.
I wish you luck, but sometimes it's better to cut your losses and find something even better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly this doesn't sound good. SORRY Chances are if this is your frist meeting with HR you are being written up. If your company doesn't follow progressive discipline you might be getting fired. Either way I am really sorry, hang in there and stat looking to get a new job ASAP.

Good luck, but don't be afraid to stand up for yourself! You want to leave on your own terms, not let them dictate when you should leave! Start making a list right now of what she has done, and bring that with you. Ideally you would have a journal of everything she said to you, but notes will help you when they put you on the spot.

She told me that I am not getting fired, just officially documented that there have been alot of problems. I am so scared to be put on the spot and speak about what really goes on around here. I honestly think she has no idea how many mistakes she has made, and how many times she's been wrong about me.
I am thinking about qutting today. Screw them

I think maybe you should request a private meeting with an HR official and speak freely about your concerns.
Today if they put you on the spot to document and they want you to SIGN something - DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING. You must tell them everything . ... you do not want to accept responsibility for something if you didn't do it.
Keep calm and bring notes.

Do not quit! They may try to get you to quit because then they don't have to pay unemployment. You want this on your terms. Bring notes and your printed emails. Good luck!

that's good. Usually company's require you to 'sign' your official warning and I'm just saying don't sign anything unless you feel the information is accurate. You don;t want misinformation in your official file and it could hurt you when you get laid off, quit, look for a new job.

I am back....It was so wierd. There was a memo for me to sign, and I took it with me to review. It was brief, nothing was mentioned about my out of office not being on when I went on vacation (which it wasnt), or any of the crap that she emails me about. She said she wants things to work out, and she likes me very much....
I am going to have a private meeting with HR tomorrow. Will what I say be kept confidential?

I think you should update your resume and start looking for a new job. It seems like you are really unhappy there anyway. In the meantime just try to do your best. It is easier to find a job when you already have one. This way they won't contact them for a reference, etc.... If you quit or get fired this could pose problems for you down the road. Good lucK!

I don't think I've EVER cried at work, for any reason...and I've never been the BOSS.... What a looney tune.
