I think Im having a bridezilla moment but am I right to HELP!!!! UPDATE

Last night my brother asked me if I would mind if he got engaged this february (my one year to go mark)and at first I was like yeah...then I asked well if you did when would you get married and he was like well a year or so after that...SO HE'S NOT EVEN GIVING ME A FEW MONTHS...Im soooo aggrivated. I would never steal someones thunder like this...and he doesnt seem to care. When I asked him to push it off a few months until maybe next fall he said telling me was just a technicality...so why bother asking me!!! He is 22 years old and in february will only be at his job for 2 months...I am flipping and needed to vent!!!AHHHHHH!

I don't blame you, that's not nice! But you should explain to him that you really can't have 2 weddings going on at the same time. There would be so much for both of you to participate in that i just would be too much...

the best line where he is lucky i didnt kill him...no one told me you were getting engaged...i had no idea it would ever happen...I was planning on doing this for a long time and already pushed it off so i didnt step on your toes! AHHHHHH...its gonna be a long day!

Just think of it this way...Your the girl of the family, your parents are going to be more concerned with yours than they are his...You also have been planning this for a while now, so everyone is going to look at him like he is the moron...So let him get engaged and let him see how the family reacts to it...He wil be SOOO happy then

AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

my sister threatened my life that we couldnt get engaged until after her wedding...

but to be honest.. we WOULD NEVER do that to her anyway.. its her moment and her thunder and once in a life time i could never take that away from her.. BUT i do think its different because hes your BROTHER not your SISTER.. and to be honest your parents wont be as consumed in his wedding as they would be in yours..

i wouldnt care about the engagement now but i would ask him to wait a few months after your wedding to get married.. especially if you have OOT guests.. maybe they wont be able to afford coming to both so close together.

I don't think getting engaged at that time is a big deal, BUT he should not have the wedding at the same time as yours. It would not just be too much for you and him, but also for your families.

i think the engagement is ok. but im pretty sure his future wife will NOT want her wedding anywhere close to yours. i wouldnt worry about it. and if anything you can always talk to her......im sure she'll be more rational and logical about it.

i see all your points and get it however...he is the baby and my parents will ALWAYS!!! have excuses for him. Im starting to feel like he is doing this to get the attention. If the wedding isnt going to be for a while why cant the engagement wait...why so I have to attend his engagement party when it should still be my time to celebrate. They have been dating for 5 years what the hell is another! I have been a wreck all day. I dont know if I am more hurt or disappointed
