I think I'm having a meltdown ...

I cant focus on whats to come with this wedding and thats BAD!

I do not fit in my dress yet and I didnt lose the weight I said I would, and Honestly, no exagerration, I dont want to get married right now because of that. I dont want to look bad..and I know I will..at least not how I want to look and its going to ruin everything. I dont know how I can be happy unless I lose some weight...and with all of 70 days left..how is that possible?

it not easy, ill be the first to admit that! we are all here for you! the holidays are especially hard with dieting. Maybe you can set a date to start (i am starting Jan 2nd) and try to set realistic goals for yourself. How much do you want to lose?

Re: I think I'm having a meltdown ...

The best way to do it is one day at a time! Try writing down your goals... that always works for me! I put a sign on the fridge, sign on the mirror and in the car... on the signs I put things like 'Go to the gym' & 'don't eat that'... 70 days is still a long time! Don't give up! Just remember in the long run that the wedding is all about your love for each other, not the party or the small details! Good Luck!

Hey Donna!
Sorry you are having a tough time. Have you considered weight watchers? I started 5 weeks ago with azoodie and we are both doing really well. I like the program and the support you get at meetings is really helpful.

We are all here for you!

Go to Weight Watchers. The plan is livable, excellent, and the routine of the meeting will jump start your weight loss. And I can't stress this enough: Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day and do 30 minutes of aerobic activity 4x's a week. You WILL see a difference, believe me.

I completely understand where you are coming from and I understand not feeling like you are where you need to be weight-wise but make sure to look at the calendar, you really do have time.

For everyone its different and depending on how much you want to lose...I know a lot of people are suggesting Weight Watchers but I personally like the atkins type craze. Its possible to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time if you can keep it up. I don't do the strict atkins, but I do count the carbs I eat and make sure to stick with the 8 glasses of water, turkey, chicken, salads, etc. and have been able to lose a pound a day, as long as you stick to it. But, everyone's body is different and I'm sure you know what is right for you. It is hard and even just five minutes ago I was thinking to myself how much weight I gained over the holidays and just felt disgusting because I went off my diet and just kept sliding down. I know there is either a thread or a board on this website for weight loss if thats something you are interested in.

I'm so upset over this, almost unreasonably upset and I know that. While WW may be a good idea, I never made much of a dent on it before, and cant see it happening now in 9 weeks.

I wanted to lse 35 lbs before March, at this point 20 is my minimum...I just am freaking out about it so much, It's ALL I think about...and the worst is that I know how depressed I will be if I dont feel like I look my best.

I just wish I could go back and had more time...

I agree cutting carbs is the way to go. On WW they have the core plan which is low carb. That is what I am doing. You can eat complex carbs like brown rice, whole wheats, etc but bad carbs are out like sugar, pasta, etc.

I would take my anger and frustation and get to the gym. Cutting carbs and working out 5x a week you will lose plenty of weight by March. We know you can do it!!!!

South Beach - and be strict about it if you really need to. Honestly you are beautiful Donna- I've met you before and I know - you are going to look stunning - please don't be so hard on yourself. But if you purchased a size too small then you need to cut the carbs BIG time and you will drop weight faster than any other diet I have tried. Good luck and we are here for you

Southbeach is another great plan. A girl at work lost 30 pounds in 2 months on Southbeach. She has kept it off for a while now. That is another great option. I know how you feel. Weight is a tough issue for most women.

Trust me when I tell you, I've battled weight for 15 years, I understand where you are coming from and what that feels like in the pit of your stomach but you DO have time to lose the weight, its not even January. Let me know if you need any help or anything. I've been doing low carbs for awhile and consider myself an expert

I did WW and I lost abut 20 pounds in 3 months. You can do it, but the key is to eat less and exercise more. Alot of people in my WW group joined Curves. The Carbs diet might also be an option. Regardless if you lose it or not, I'm sure you will look beautiful and your FH will love you regardless.

I would try to eat really healthy mostly veggies and very lean meats and cut out sugar and carbs. Definitely exercise everyday. You can definitely lose the 35 pounds. I think the first week will be hard but after that it really should be easier. Keep thinking to yourself how you will look in your dress.

this is a great plan DM....always try to exercise for a good hour and 4-5 times a week. running (cardio) is the best. you can do it...

and if you dont guess what, you will still be the best bride on your special day. regardless of the outcome, you will look awesome.. you can do it.. 2-3 bls a week is 20 or so lbs in 2 months

go for it

Donna - You need to focus more on what you are going to do to lose the weight than the fact that you haven't lost the amount you wanted to and only have about 70 days or so left. Look at it this way - losing anything from now on is better than nothing right? We are your support group - and are here for you. Now start focusing ONLY on what you can do to start losing the weight!!

Re: I think I'm having a meltdown ...

This is one of the hardest struggles we have to deal with. I just started my exercise this past Monday. What motivated me was seeing Oprah on the cover of her magazine. I told myself, if she can do it at age 50 then why can't I. I am starting out slowly. I am drinking at least 50 ounces of water a day. I have a WW 32 ounce cup. I fill it up when I get to work and start drinking until I am at least half way. Then I eat breakfast. I am also working out for one hour at night. One night weights and treadmill. The other night pilates and treadmill. Last night I was a little soar, but I looked at Oprah's picture and told myself I have to. Another motivation I wrote to myself is; Their are 168 hours in a week, if I can find 6 to 7 hours to improve my health and appearance, them I am not really trying. Take small steps. Once you get going it won't be as bad. I have done the WW and Atkins and they do work, but I just don't like being restricted.

I have until March to order my dress so you and I have the same time frame. Just think more of yourself, lift your spirits, then lift the weights. Hope this helps some.

Oh, and my eating is:
B - oatmeal
Snack - fruit
L - salad w/ chicken strips (light dressing)
Snack - fruit
D - salad w/ some kind of protien

You will look beautiful no matter what, honestly.

Does your dress fit you now?

Re: I think I'm having a meltdown ...

YOU CAN DO THIS - YOU NEED TO THINK POSITIVELY!!!

20 pounds in 3 months is doable. Personally, although it is controversial, I think Atkins/very low carb is the way to go. Do a VERY strict induction (2 weeks of NO carbs) and it will throw your body into fat burning mode. Integrate carbs in after 2 weeks (only BROWN ones - don't eat anything white!) and lots of veggies and water and you WILL do this!

If you want, make a weekly posting here on 05 with your progress and we can cheer you on - feel bad about yourself today, but wake up tomorrow with a NEW outlook - if you are positive, this can happen.

We are here for you!

Re: I think I'm having a meltdown ...

I always go back you what my doc says..not to worry about the food so much as the exersize. I've lost inches and the weight stayed the same. As I built muscle the weight got higher and I freaked out! He says get stronger and your body will be healthier.

I do watch though because I don't want to have the scale tip! One thing I do that really helps is some high fiber breakfast (raisin bran) or peanut butter on 7 grain bread (one slice) and that really helps me stay on target for the rest of the day. If I don't eat that in the am I am doomed, then I go straight for the donuts.

I still have about 25 lbs to lose but I'm more interested in a size 10-12. I too have a goal for March. Also, I didn't lose the weight for my wedding and lost it after. I just couldn't focus on that while planning the wedding. I thought I would look like a cow, but I didn't. Don't beat yourself up. You will be beautiful!
