I am beside myself right now - the place where I bought my wedding dress is closing and no one even bothered to call and tell me! I was just calling and leaving messages and no one was calling me back - finally, I looked on the website and they are closing in September! No one seems to be able to tell me where my dress is! It was supposed to ship out on July 15th and I still don't know where it is and I keep calling an getting no answers. I don't know what to do!

Re: I think my dress is lost!
Well - this isn't my week, because I also have a broken foot, so it's harder to get over there! Ugh - I may have to ask someone to help me get over there. This is not good.

Re: I think my dress is lost!
The same thing happened at a store in Astoria, Saymel's, a couple of years ago. Except there the girls I knew (BM's) had no prior warning. They heard they closed down on the news. They phoned the manufacturer and their order was still there, with their names and all. Unfortunately, they lost their deposit but the company worked with them and in the end they didn't lose a lot. I know the deposit on a bridal is much more, and hopefully you won't have to go that far.
I would go there and refuse to leave til I had some assurances. Good Luck.

What about the TV's 'Shame on You' or the LI Network? Maybe the media can get in on this before it's too late. Where is this store?

I live in Boston and the store is here - I was also counting on them shipping it home for the wedding.

EEEP!!
Yep.. I'd agree.. I'd pretty much camp out until I got answers. Know any lawyer friends? Sounds cruel but I'd start threatening them with breach of contract duties in regards to services rendered. I'd get nasty. Things like this never seem to go easy and from what I've seen .. the squeaky wheel get's the oil.
Stay strong and hang in there. Don't give up.

You should go there and find out what is going on. If they give you the go around...contact an attorney.

Re: I think my dress is lost!
UPDATE - Here's the deal - the obnoxious owner of the store finally called - he was completely unapologetic. He said they still have the dress in Atlanta at the manufacturer - he is having them ship it to their New Hampshire location and he will bring it down with him on Sept. 5th (they're having a sample sale to get rid of all of their stuff in the Boston store). Now I have to find a seamstress to do alterations and Anne Barge (the manufacturer) is working on that for me. This guy was totally unapologetic - finally I said 'you know - I can't believe you wouldn't contact brides before putting a going out of business message on your website.' He had a million excuses. I just want the dress at this point.

Re: I think my dress is lost!
go there in person. also call the designer - who is the designer?? maybe they can just ship it right to you???? i can't believe the store is closing and they dind't call you!!! what store is it? i hope you get some inforamtion out of those people!!!
ETA: glad the onwer called, sorry he was such a jerk.
i would keep on him/the salon/the manufacturer to bring the dress down from NH.
and maybe get a backup seamstress just in case. i know of one, fm me if you want her info.

Re: I think my dress is lost!
I would call the Anne Barge store in Atlanta and have the ship the dress directly to you. Try not to have to deal with the obnxious owners.

Re: I think my dress is lost!
Ahha, a New Hampshire store. Now wouldn't the local columnists up there have a field day if they knew what he pulled in his Boston store? You can always threaten with that.
Some girls already said this, and I think it would be in your best interest to have the dress sent directly to your home. It's done all the time when girls try to save NY sales tax and have the dress sent to NJ. I would not trust this person in the least.

I know, but Anne Barge said they have to ship it directly to the owner for some reason. Ugh - this is annoying
