Today i had the worst pain in both knees...What hurt the most was going up and down stairs...I had to literally put all my weight on the banister. Plus last night I woke up with an excrusiating pain in my right calf muscle. Is all of this normal at 23 weeks.....Geez if its bad now...i can't imagine what it will be like later!

Re: I think my legs are giving out on me
The cramps in the calf are definately normal. Extra calcium or potassium (I forget which) is supposed to help a little in some cases. I don't know how your weight gain has been but the weak knees could be from both your body adjusting to carrying extra weight AND the fact that due to changes in your body, your muscles get a little 'looser' during pregnancy. Hang in there!

as dumb as it sounds drink water.... leg cramps, that early and severe for me were signs of dehydration... I dehydrated 6 times throughout my pregnancy... Good Luck!

Re: I think my legs are giving out on me
Until I read your post I totally forgot that I had pain in my knee while preggo!
Sometimes it felt like I was losing the soft tissue between the bones and it was scraping when it bent.
The dr. said something about the cartiliage thinning (don't quote me a that! LOL) but it would return to normal after I gave birth and sure enough it did!
The bananas worked great for keeping the cramps away, I had one a day at least and had maybe one cramp the whole prenancy.
