When someone sends a No response with NOTHING written anywhere about why they cannot attend. I could never do that. I really think that it's very rude to just send back a card with a zero in the '___persons will attend' spot.
AND I'm still tracking down some RSVP's that are outstanding. A verbal (ie: telephone call) would suffice right now for those.

Hi...
Totally understand. I felt the same way when I received my declines.
Actually with a week left almost...10.02.05 is my date at WM too. Unfortunately, I got a decline who was an original 'yes' so don't be surprised if at the last week you'll get a no from someone who said 'yes'. I hope it does it happens but like I was told at least I know now (today was my due date to give WM my count). And not have to pay for extras.
Good Luck!!

I hear you! I got a no RSVP from my boss last week with nothing at all written on the card. Not only that, but she never even acknowledged that she got the invite. not one word.

Yeah, I hear u...I was surprised at how people didn't provide reasons why they couldn't attend. We had a few of those. Some people! But they weren't close friends or family members soooo

I agree! I got one back from my cousin with just a '0'. To me, they don't have to explain why, but write a nice 'congratulations' or something!

I was kind of peeved too when we got a couple with no explanation. Now I'm just happy to get any response. We have called 2 particular couples a few times and have not even had a yes or no. That peeves me even more

That is kinda rude. At least a phone call to explain.

To tell you the truth- before I got to this site I didn't know it was considered bad etiquette to not give a reason you couldn't attend. Maybe they just don't know?

Re: I think that this is very insulting:
I don't know...I might be in the minority here but I didn't expect my guests to give a reason. I mean, the card says 'will attend...will not attend'. And they have a space to check, there's nothing that says 'explain reason why'. I think it would be awkward to have to 'explain yourself'. Of course it hurt when certain family members couldn't attend, but I wasn't waiting for an explanation...I figured they couldn't make it and thanked my lucky stars they sent the card back.
You're prob being sensitive because, well, weddings make us nutty. Don't take it to heart!

Re: I think that this is very insulting:
At first I wanted the 'cannot attend' with an explanation, but now with all the lame excuses I'm getting, like 'Oh it's on a Friday, and we didn't know...' Hello, I sent them save the date cards in late Feb. with the date! So maybe an honest explanation is better, but I would not rather have one at all.
On the other hand, I think sometimes people feel uncomfortable explaining themselves, that's why they like the card reply as opposed to a phone call reply. On the card they can just check off the 'cannot attend' line and not explain why not. Sometimes with a phone call people feel like they are defending themselves or something.
But I agree, at this point any reply in any manner is preferable...

i'm definitly in the minority on this one. i've never heard of writing an explanation as to why someone couldn't attend a wedding. i'd just be happy to get the rsvp back - jmo

Re: I think that this is very insulting:
HA! We got one of those. We told FH's Mom and she said...
'I'll get right on this...I don't know why they wouldn't be there! I'll call them right away!'
Times like this...it's good to have a pushy MIL! HA!
ETA: So far we've only rec'd two declinations and one phone call (missing RSVP?), but we expected the declinations from the two. We're not insulted though.
