DMV and Social Security are the first places you should head to. Then you can take it from there. Most credit card companies just take your word for it over the phone.

I went to the DMV with my ORIGINAL marriage license (make copies before you take it with you thought, just in case)
I had to take a new picture and fill out a form.
You can also change your name on your car's registration at this time too- just make sure you have your title with you.

Then I went to SS. I filled out the form online before going to the SS office in Patchogue. I waited for about an hour- again bring your ORIGINAL marriage license and your old SS card- they will take your old SS card when you apply for a new one.

Credit cards- you have to call to change your name
Bank- I went there after I received my new driver's license in the mail and they changed it all over.

Good luck!

I did the DMV first, I brought my SS card (old one), proof of my new address (since I moved) and my birth certificate. They will give everything back to you.

For SS (if you go with your DL with your maiden name on it) bring your birth certificate, Drivers License and you marriage license.

If you go to SS and you already have your new license-you need your marriage license and your DL. They give everything back to you when you are done also.

CC and bills you can do most over the phone, they may asky ou to fax a copy of your marriage license over to them.
