A friend (granted, she's in PA) just asked me if she could bring her baby to my wedding. How do I respond?

We had no young children at our wedding and people asked this question--it was no...I actually did a lot of work searching for a babysitter for some one and then the mother ended up staying home and dad in BP came.
Do whatever YOU and FH want--since it's yours and FH's day!

i don't think its nervy of her to ask.... i think she was trying to be nice and ask you beforehand instead of just assuming that it was ok for her to bring the baby---- i think it was actually really respectful of her to ask and not just show up with the baby..... as for how to answer her, its up to you- i'm sure she would understand if you told her 'no' , she might even be happy for the excuse to get a babysitter....

Depends on how badly you want HER at your wedding. If she's coming from out of state, it might be difficult to find someone to keep the baby overnight, especially a young one. (I know, I have a 3 month old - can't get anyone to watch him even for an hour!) That being said, I don't think it's nervy of her to ask. It's actually quite considerate - imagine how you would feel if she just showed up, baby in tow!
Totally agree!!!!
I'm sorry but I have to agree too. I don't have kids but I imagine that it would be difficult to leave an infant in another state for theday. She may not have a choice.

Not sure if it's nervy...
One recent trend that I've noticied is that wedding guests seem to think they're doing the bride and groom some HUGE favor by attending a wedding. That's what seems to give them the courage to ask for special accomodations....
If you're not having kids at the wedding, just tell her that you're not having kids and that if you were to let her bring her baby, it would start a war with the family members who were told that they couldn't bring children.
Agreed! We are doing NO CHILDREN for any reason what so ever. I would just be honest with her and tell her how you feel.
