I thought eighth graders were a little more with it than this

So I had some of my eighth graders help me tape art work for the art show and they were asking me about high school and what to expect and whatnot...so cute..and we got on the topic of them wishing I was a hs art teacher so they could have me. I told them 'well you never know, this is my last year in art, n my last art show so we may meet again one day bc I have to student teach here next year.' one girl looked as though she was going to cry and goes no! You cant leave! I'm like but your leaving us lol. Then one girl goes so wait, you're retiring?
