I totally don't get it

I totally don't get it

I'm watching Mad TV on Comedy Central, and they just spent half of a skit cursing in Spanish, and Comedy Central is not exactly shy when it comes to saying certain things, yet they just silenced the word 'Jesus.' I somewhat understand how some people may be offended by that, but why is the word Jesus worse than b*tch, puta (sorry, that's the word they used, not intending to offend anyone), etc.?

I just don't understand the random standards for censorship.

I guess it is not to offend the people who don't like the lords name used in vain.

So cursing is OK? Slinging stereotypes is OK? I just don't understand the guidelines they use to determine what is OK and what should be bleeped.

Also, it's not the lord's name to everyone - does that mean that it is a Christian standard? Seriously - not being nasty.

I don't really know I was just guessing , but think of other religions and what word offends them and is it used on TV ? (Not being nasty either)

I honestly can't think of any that are not inherently derogatory, whereas Jesus is not a religiously/morally/ethnically/sociologically, etc., derogatory word.

I'm not sure if I understand this correctly , I'll try (LOL, one only knows how bad i am at this ) I was thinking along this line Jesus is obviously in the Christian Community Sacred ,so when you use Jesus Christ or even just Jesus in replace of cursing it becomes deragatory and what I think they censor it for is so that it is not used in that way, and that the television does not use it that way either ??? sorry I am not sure I made sense but it is hard for me to get my thoughts together and type LOL

I understand what you're saying, I think. I don't think she was using it in place of a curse, although she said, 'sweet Jesus,' so who knows.

The point is that it would then seem to me that it's a Christian standard for censorship, but only to the extent that the religion is directly involved, otherwise why would other curse words be allowed that could potentially offend people of every walk of life?

YAY you understood ME !!!!!!!!!

Your are right if it was not to say Jesus Christ or just Jeeeezus ( religion based) but in the sense of a name then yes i guess that is christian censorship But I guess rather then try to decipher which it means they bleep it all out !!!!!
