i wanna say yes to the dress already, dagnabit!

i wanna say yes to the dress already, dagnabit!

soo i'm having a hard time finding THE dress. i've been to like 4 or 5 stores already. maggie sottero's jenna was in the front running but camille by winnie couture (avant mariee) knocked it out of the water today. i'm still not totally convinced, though. i wanna try on maggie sottero's simone and the only store in NY state that has it is kleinfeld's (i checked) so i will be trying that on the week after next.

in the meantime, i have an appt at another dress store in the city on wednesday since they carry avant mariee's (winnie couture) and i wanna see if maybe i like more of her stuff. (i had been focusing on maggie sottero previously.)

how long did it take you guys to find your dresses? i am getting a bit worried b/c we are approaching the 9 month mark (9 months til wedding) and everybody is telling me i need to order my dress 6-8 months before.

for reference, here's the jenna:

and the simone:

(no bolero for me on that one.)

and the winne couture avant mariee camille gown i tried on today and really liked:

i'll take opinions on the dresses, too! thanks, ladies. you guys are such a help and i adore this blog!

I was fortunate and found my dress very quickly (it was the first one I tried on). Sometimes it takes a little time. If you've narrowed down a style you love then just ask to try on that style when you go to bridal places. If you haven't chosen a style yet, then sometimes it's better to ask the women at bridal places to bring out dresses they think would work for you. My sister was in your shoes also...she didn't find a dress that was 'it,' so she just asked the woman at the bridal place to bring out any style and she found her dress! Good luck!

i went looking for maggies and came home with a winnie! i lucked out - i went to BR in massapequa - told the woman what i kind of liked, my price range and she pulled different things. she pulled a bunch of maggie's and then asked me if i was open to other brands (obviously!) and she pulled a couple of winnie's.

i just fell in love with my dress. i couldn't handle wearing a maggie all day - they are wayyyyyy too heavy b/c they are made more cheaply and need more linings (she explained). when i was sweating just standing there i figured i would hate this maggie dress by the end of the day.

Winnie Coutures are so much lighter and I think it's still a lesser known brand - very different. I heart my winnie

in all honesty, i couldn't do more than one day of dress shopping. i hated every second of it. i was thrilled to find my dress on my first outing (which i wasn't expecting).

don't worry, after you try on this other dress at kleinfelds (and try on other ones as well!) you will know which one you see yourself in on your day. you just need to exhaust all the possibilities! plenty of girls feel the same way. whichever one your mind keeps comparing the rest to will be the one and you will just know! no worries!

i totally know what you mean I think i've been to 6 stores and tried on 643642368 dresses, but don't feel head over heels in love with any of the gowns. Its very frustrating

sorry this is more of a vent than advice for you, but just wanted to say that i know how you feel....i'm sure you'll find the gown you LOVE one day and all of the wait will be worth it

isn't it so frustrating?! have you discovered silhouettes (sp?) or brands you like, at least? i thought i had my heart set on a maggie but now that i saw that really nice winnie couture.... and at first i wanted mermaid/trumpet, then i went to dropped waist a-line and the winnie yesterday was back to mermaid.... @#%^$%&^%&&&& hahahaha. i am driving myself (and my mom, and my aunt) crazy!

kleinfeld's will be good to try on the simone and i'm hoping they can just eyeball my figure and bring out something spectacular that looks great on me and is within my budget.

what stores have you gone to?

thanks, but that's the problem! i thought i narrowed it down to drop waist a-line gowns (like the jenna and simone) but the winnie couture camille yesterday was more mermaidy (and looked awesome!). (my only reluctance with it was that i think the a-lines make more of a dramatic statement/entrance.) oh woe is me hahahaha.

thanks, everyone for all the helpful tips and for letting me vent!

I was in the same position as you about two months ago. I was totally in love with the Jenna but decided to see if there was something better out there (although I was convinced I would end up with the Jenna). I ended up trying on a dress I almost put back w/o trying on Maggie Rosabel(very similar to the Simone you love), and ended up purchasing that one. You have some time before you have to make a decision, and IMO try on the Simone and a couple of Winnies to help you make a decision but stop there. Because in all reality there are sooooo many beautiful dresses out there in so many different styles that you can try on dresses forever, and fall in love with half of them. Trying on too many dresses may confuse you even more...IMO

My favorite is the simone. i think its beautiful! That was one of the ones I originally liked but I found another 1 I fell in love with, but i definitely love the simone dress

i went with katarina i thought i would do more fit and flare or a-line, but i ended up with a mermaid - you never know what you'll like until you try on all silhouettes! good luck!!!
