I don't know what to get. I know I am supposed to get the console and of course a game or 2, but what else? There are all these accessories....I'm lost. This is a Christmas gift for DH...
can anyone recommend:
-what to get? -what games are good to get? -what websites I can look on to buy? (I checked Amazon already)

it comes with one Controller might want to buy another one and also a memory card or 2. What does he like Fighting sports racing?

go for the extra controller and the memory cards...and buy some games that you think might be fun for him....he can always exchange them for different ones. or you can ask one of the people who works in the store to help you choose some..... what a great idea!

the MEMORY CARD is a must. without it you have to start each game over every time!!!
If you want to use it as a DVD player, the remote control is like $14.
If you dont encourage violence or the gift is for a kid DO NOT GET Grand Theft Auto. My Fi and my Brother play it and it is the WORST game for violence!
ETA: does anyone know of any good fighting games for PS2? (a mortal Kombat type)
Fi and I were over a friends who has XBox and they had a great fighting game (not sure the name) when I went to best buy I didnt really see anythign that looked too good.

I'm an Xbox fan!! You don't need a memory card, it has memory built in. It's made by Microsoft, so it's like a computer. I bought it when it first came out, and all I needed was an extra controller (and games, of course). DH is obsessed with it!
the extra controller and the memory card are musts...
but if you want to go for the internet adaptor...and a game like SoCom or Madden football...or others that you could play online

not sure how it differs but we bought :
the second control the dvd kit
he plays 2 or 3 sports games and never needed a media card... i dont know if xbox even sells them...

if he likes fighting games tekken tag tournament is really cool. the spiderman game is pretty cool too but really hard. it works great as a dvd player too if you don't have one already.

I bought a Playstation2 for my DH for Christmas, too!
I bought him the console, (which comes with one controller). I also bought him a 2 pack of 8 MB memory cards, and seven games. Some of the games are pricey, but I got a lot of them for a pretty reasonable price on EBay. That's why I was able to buy him so many. Otherwise, forget it!! Toooo expensive.
I was thinking of getting him another controller, but I'm way over budget as it is.

Yeah, I got it for DH too! You can get another controller, memory cards, and games like the girls said. Target had some of the classic games on sale for $15 the other day. They are a bit older but some are just good to have.
