Ugh! I booked my ceremony last year some about 3 months after I got engaged. I saw and fell in love with the community church of e. williston, and now i regret that i ever decided to book there. First of all the pastor who i met and who was supposed to do my ceremony is leaving and some other person will be there instead! I was looking over my contract paper work, and they say that a aisle runner will be provided to me for a charge of 50.00, so I called to find out if i can bring my own personalized aisle runner. They say no. I have to use theirs! Soooo I ask, what if i pay the 50 and use my own? they say no! also, i find out that we can't throw petals!!! because it can stain the runner! that is so stupid! If they let me use my own runner then it won't matter! to make matters worse, i have to pay for an organist! I hate the way an organ sounds, so i want a string quartet, she is not sure that is allowed! I am paying 1350 for this stupid money grubbing church, and I am not even getting things they way I want it! I wish I was a member of a church, but I have not been attending church on a regular basis for a while now, so now i have to suffer! have any of you had to deal with this? Anyone have a suggeston for a nice church (not catholic) Here in nassau (north shore)? This is so depressing! I really wan't to cancel my church and book some where else, and at this point I only have 8 and a half months till wedding time!

That is a lot of money, I am sorry your having a hard time with them. Regarding the rose petals, can yo throw fake ones at least?They won't stain?

First, that is A LOT of money you're paying! I would make an appointment to go into the church and speak to the person in charge. Let him know how you feel FACE TO FACE. People tend to not bend so much over the phone. If you go and talk to them and still don't get what you want, ask to cancel and find yourself another place! 8 months is still plenty of time! I'm getting married there as well. And I understand your frustration with the Pastor leaving and the new one coming in. But I have to admit.. I met with the new pastor, Pastor Dan Fritz and he was very very nice and comfortating. I asked about the rose petals and he said not a problem.. speak to Pastor Fritz.. he'll pretty much let you do what you want.. with the exception of the organist and the runner.... but I completely agree with the fees getting out of hand... but I was at my witts end with the previous church... and then found this church.. just meet with the new pastor.. and see how it goes... he was so nice and non-judgemental.. my old church was very judgemental.. give it a try

That's too much money. I know there's an Interfaith Chapel at CW Post... other wise, why not get married at the reception hall? Most put together a beautiful ceremony.
Also I think you can get married in a catholic church and just not have a mass if you aren't confirmed. HTH

OMG 1350!?!?!?!?!?!? I'm sorry you're going through this! We can't throw petals either, and no aisle runner to speak of so I know what your going through!
Try and talk to the pastor in person and see what they say.

I totally understand your fustration. My church wanted 1800 I was like WHAT and I attend and give money. But from what I understand the big churches can charge that type of money because of the large overhead they have to pay out for your event. Also if you are not a member they tend to charge more. I was all for paying this for my church but they have been so unaccomodating to me and does not return phone calls I gave up with them. I was lucky enough to find someone's church who is basically letting me customize my wedding myself which is better, so Im happy about that.

$1350 is alot of money!!!!!! My chuch is $500 for the ceremony organist and singer if we wish to have it. I can't believe that charge that much. I'm not to sure what their policy is on he aisle runner though, I never thought to ask. I do know that the church doesn't allow rice to be thrown. Good luck in your search. i am so sorry you are going through this.
