I want to purchase my own wedding band!!!

I know this is typically not done, but in my case it may be the best solution.

Fh and I went to look at rings yesterday. The ring he wants is very gaudy- a thick band with diamonds and sapphires, I think it is so Liberace!!!

He loves the look, I don't. He seemed to like the rings I picked out for myself which is good because they were simple and elegant.

I do not want to deprive him of the ring he wants, but at the same time I do not want to spend $$$ on a ring I like.

So would it be ok if we purchased our own rings, that way we could both get what we want and be happy?

I don't see anything wrong with that. Why not? There is not set in stone (ha ha) rule that he has to buy the rings. If you want what you want, and have the money, then buy it!!! That's what I say!!

My FH wants a very simple ring. I love it! I just want something a little fancier. But I'm buying both of them....

Why not. Your rings don't have to match.Our don't.
We actually each got two.One plain one for wearing around the house and a nice one.

Do what works for you & FH - I'm buying our bands & altho his is more expensive/fancier than I anticipated he'd want, but its all good.

Maybe I'm coming from a different angle because my FH and I have lived together for two years already. But, all of the money is coming from the same place at this point. Any money you have is his and vice versa b/c once you move in together it's all the same. So, don't worry about the money thing. So, go ahead and buy his ring rather than hurt his feelings. And, I don't thing your rings have to match. How often are people going to be looking at both of your hands at the same time. I sold jewelry as a way to put myself through a private university, and most of the couples I worked with didn't have bands that were exactly the same...

Kysha do what you want. You will be wearing the ring forever anyway. This is funny b/c FH wants diamonds in his band too. Our bands will match but of course HE gets the bigger diamonds since his finger is 3x my finger size! He deserves it.

I made a wedding band budget and since we have joint accts and separate ones we are pulling the money out of a joint acct. Much easier for me to figure it out.

Why aren't you buying the rings together? Why does it have to be an individual purchase? DH and I just went and found the rings we liked and got them together. It was not a 'whose money is this issue' at all.

definitely get what you want! we have different rings. he really wanted Titanium. to me, that is something they make the Terminator with, not a precious metal. he got his Titanium, and i got my platinum!
