i want to try and have a baby but

This is my problem. Let start by saying when i was 1 1/2 years old I had seizures and they put me on phenobarital i take it twice a day.(seizure free for 34 years)
Now nerologist wants me to take a couple of test before i TTC he wants me to go for a eeg, for a carpatunal test and a test for migraines, but i am so ready to have a baby why do i have to wait? also i have to wait till i go on meds for my thyroid you all know the story for that.What do you all think? should i wait and try at the end of the year after all of my test is done. Tia.

It is a tough call. I was taking seizure meds for my migraines adn hed to give them up. I also was taking medicine for my high blood pressure and had to give that up.

So far so good. I ahve only had 3 migraines in 25 weeks and my blood pressure is good.

Just be prepared that you my wind up being a high risk pregnancy.

I would try to take the doctors advice but I know it's hard. I'm in a similiar situation b/c of my blood pressure so my doctor wants me to get my bood pressure under control, exercise and eat healthier to minimize risk during pregnancy.

I'm fine with it, but I probably can't TTC until June/July. I think its worth the wait. I am very active and it would kill me if I had to be on bed rest for my entire pregnancy or in the hospital.

Roseann, I know its hard to wait but I would follow your doctors advice, go for all the testing , and get your body as healthy as possible before TTC. You have a few different medical issues going on here, and I think its really important to follow through with your neurologists recommendations.

I am 35 also and I take medication that is helping with my severe migraines -- without the medication I am constantly suffering. Yet I was told point blank by my neuro that I will have to be off the meds before DH and I begin TTC. This scares me bc I know going off the meds will mean the migraines willl come back, but its what I'll need to do.

Not to mention, I am going to be treated for endometriosis in the next few days, so that is another factor on why I need to hold off with our plans.

I firmly believe that if you have the option to wait a bit, its much better to try to get your health into the best possible condition you can, rather that run the risk of being put on bedrest or having other health factors complicate your pregnancy right now.

Believe me I wish I could get pregnant tomorrow also! And when you are 35 or older like we are , you know that time is ticking and you just want to go forward with TTC

I am in the same boat. Never had a seizure until last Jan. and then one last march. The 2 seizures occurred 2 hours after I took and advil and in March, I took an Aleve. Dr.s are not 100% sure if its the ibuprofin that caused it but I am not allowed to touch any ibuprofin ever! Its Tylenol only!
I too am on phenobarbitol and just went for my 2nd EEG yesterday. I will know the results next Wed. My 1st one came back normal. I have to also go through some more tests and they may lower my dosage. Both my Ob/gyn and neuroligist said 'We are not saying you can't have a baby, but there's that chance that baby may have some kind of delay'.
So, DH and i will wait and pray that I can come off the meds (we feel it was a reaction to the ibuprofin and Aleve is having a lot of problems these days) so we shall see.
I will defiintiley post when TTC! I cant wait to post that 'I took a test and it came back +...but we have to wait and Im willing to, if it means a healthy baby.
