I was FIRED! with only 2 weeks left til my wedding (LONG)

So here is some background. My friend called me, she worked at a preschool. They were looking for someone new, cause the director was gonna fire two people. So, I called and said, I would love to come interview, but just to let you know, I am getting married in Nov and I will need thse 5 days off. She said no problem. I went in and she said she wasn't happy with one of the girls cause she feels uncomfortable that she just had a baby and she may want to stay home. And the other girl she didn't like because she worked at another preschool and she didnt want rumors going around. So, she wound up hiring me, she said she loved me.....I told her the days I needed off- no problem she says. We all got friendly, so stupid me says I may move in the future. This got her freaked out thinking I am gonna move tomorow. So, I see that she is interviewing people now! Some girl came in Wed and today, who she told me was an 'observer'. At the end of the day she tells me she needs to talk to me and she says ' I guess you know what I am gonna tell you' I said no, she said ' I have to let you go' I said why, she said, ' well to be honest I told like how you work' she said one time I left a toy in the wrong place and she saw me sitting too much. So then I said, really and she said and also, your taking too much time off on the honeymoon. I said I TOLD YOU THAT BEFORE I EVEN INTERVIEWED!!! She goes ya ya and so then I told her I think you are being very rude to fire someone two weeks before their wedding and she goes, well your being unprofessional about this. So I walked out and that was that.

I just feel so depressed about it. I feel like maybe I am a bad teacher. Or is she just a psychpath???

TOTAL psychopath!!! And as far as letting the girl go b/c she may take off too much time b/c of her child? Sounds like it could be a lawsuit (discrimination) - and that was so UNPROFESSIONAL of her to discuss that with you as well!

Do you really need the money? Can you just take the two weeks off to relax before your wedding? Or start looking around for jobs - set up interviews and let them know you can start 3-4 weeks from now, but in the meantime if you need the money - work retail P/T...

You didn't need to be working with that kind of manic person anyway - consider this a blessing in disguise and remember - everything happens for a reason!! Hang in there!!! You're getting married in 2 weeks!!!

I am so sorry. It sounds like this woman is just an a$$hole! Maybe it's for the best that you got fired-she could have caused you even more stress if she fired you even closer to the wedding. I wouldn't even worry about it now-concentrate on the wedding.

When you get back from your HM, you can go on a few interviews and I am sure you will find a job in no time. At least after the wedding you will have some $ to fall back on-from the gifts.

I don't need the money, I have another sub job, I just feel like I am a bad teacher cause of what she said. She also told me I looked depressed. ? Whats that about? Also, I got yelled at cause I didnt give 24 hour notice when I was sick with a 102 fever....

I'm so sorry...you don't want to work for that psycho anyway. Please don't let this ruin the time before your wedding. It will all work out. Maybe when you get back from yourhoneymoon you will find a great job where you are appreciated.

That s*cks. I knew your story was going nowhere good when you said at the beginning that she interviewed you to replace a lady with a child, because she worried that the lady would take to many days off. Gender discrimination in the workplace much? Your ex-boss sounds controlling and manipulative, and she was just making up excuses to get rid of you - don't believe anything she's said about your ability as a teacher. It's not honest criticism if it's coming from a woman who gets her kicks upsetting happy girls with new families.

You're getting married in 2 weeks! Yay! You'll take care of all this when you get back.

I am so sorry! I know that 2 weeks before your wedding you certainly do not need this kind of stress. Honestly, I think that women is quite crazy, and losing that job is probably a blessing in disguise. I just resigned from my new job that i started in august, I was being tortured, and treated like a slave, and stupidly stuck it out for over 2 months, finaly i quit, and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Sometimes, we just have to roll with the punches. I quit on tuesday, I had an interview on wednesday for anothe job, and I also signed up with an agency that day, on thursday i started agency work and on today I was offered that job that I interview for on wednesday!!! So My advice to you is, enjoy the next 2 weeks before you wedding, and think of this a blessing in disguise, you will find somthing much better, and you won't have to deal with Mrs. Crazy person!!! Best of luck to you!!!!

I am so sorry that this happened to you-it is so unprofessional of her to say something like that to you. She seems like she may be missing a loop or two! That doesnt make you a bad teacher-some people just want certain things from people, sounds like she goes thru girls like she changes her underwear.

OMG im so sorry...but no shes the physchopath!!!!!!, dont stress everything will be fine, once you get married everything will be fine you will get through, your wedding only happens once in your life, you dont want to be depressed now, i know its hard but you will get through, i had started a job right before my wedding and i took off two weeks for my honeymoon, well they let me but without pay, which is understandable, so when we got back we just dipped into our wedding money and payed it back, everything will work out, i have faith

WOW! She is NASTY and I can tell you as a parent I wouldnt want my child in a preschool were people are constantly revolving through the door, hiring and firing, hiring and firing...

I agree ~ she is a psycho & if she really were to fire someone on maternity leave ...major lawsuit there! That could be a big mistake. Very unprofessional...seems to me she is a Drama Boss... Wacko! Plus she should have never discussed with you each different employee and her likes/dislikes on them! VERY unprofessional! You should be happy you are out of there I am just sooo sorry to hear she did this two weeks before your wedding ~ What a Jerk!
