a graduate school classmate's wedding. Him and i are friendly and work at the same place, but I really won't know anyone there, so I'm not going to go.
Now here are my questions:
1 - When I return my RSVP declining should I include my gift then or send him a seperate card after the wedding with my gift?
2 - I'm thinking of sending him a check for $50. Is that enough?

I think $50 is absolutely fine and i would put it with the rsvp

Re: I was invited to.....Need advice
I would send it separately with a wedding card. Depending on how well you know him..I may bump the amount up to $75 or $100.
Ooooor buys something off the registry for less..then you can get away with spending less.

I'd probably do 100 - but anything you give is a nice gesture.... I'd probably send it with the RSVP or like 2 weeks before the wedding.

Are you going to invite him to yours?
I think etiquette says to send the gift with the response card, not that its worked out that way with any of my no's.
I'd probably send more like $100, but thats just me.

I think I would send back the RSVP no and then send a card to him and is FW after the wedding and the amount is fine if you are not going- at least that is what I would do.

I would feel funny sending cash...I would probably buy something off their registry, or send a gift card to the store they registered at.

I agree with that - or I would buy them something off their registry - maybe something that isnt moving - or a piece of china worth 100

I don't know where he is registered, plus I rather give him $$. I know I'd prefer the $$.

I'm inviting him to mine out of courtesy. I honestly didn't think he would invite me to his. I think he'll decline also because he won't know really anyone at mine as well.
I'm trying to gauge what's a 'good gift'. I know him, we were classmates and former co-workers and now we both work for the same company but different areas.

Send him a check with your RSVP.

Re: I was invited to.....Need advice
Depending on how you feel I think if you don't go $50 is enough to give as a gift and also I would include it with the RSVP with a little note of congrats to the couple.
When we got our 'no's' some did it that way but also wrote something on the RSVP or included a nice note.

Re: I was invited to.....Need advice
I would send it seperate from the RSVP. I would put the check in a wedding card and send it closer to the date.

Re: I was invited to.....Need advice
IMHO- What goes around comes around. Your wedding is after his and you are inviting him to yours... IF he deciedes to decline your invite then I would expect him to send you a check for the same amount most likely
