Earlier today, someone went under my desk where my purse hides and stole it! I am a receptionist, and my desk is at the front, but even with a security guard at the door, some jerk got in, posing as a delivery guy. He waited until I went to the bathroom to go through my stuff!
I went to the local precinct, cried, and filed a report. The thing I was most upset about losing: MY WEDDING CALENDAR!! So much wedding stuff, phone numbers, appointments in there.
The Good News? I got back to the building and they found the purse in the staircase, only missing the cash. EVERYTHING else was there!
Friendly reminder: Even in your place of business, people find a way to steal from you.

Thats horrible!!!! Im sooooooooo glad they found your purse though. I too would freak out without my planner. Just the mere thought of it will make me write a backup sheet in case this ever happens.

WOW! I am so sorry. Glad all you lost was cash. I guess now you have to take your purse with you when you go to the bathroom???

Re: I was just a victim of theft!
That's awful.
I'm paranoid about my purse and workbag considering I found the same student behind my desk in my workbag claiming to be 'looking for a pencil'
Where is he now? Nassau County jail.
Unfortunately, we can't trust anyone these days.
So sorry that happened to you.

That is horrible--you would think that it would be safe at work--guess you are going to have to take it with you whereever you go or get a lock for your draw...at least you got all your stuff back--I have heard it is a real pain to try and replace everything.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. This has happened a few times here. Thankfully we're able to lock our bags in our desk drawers now.
That is terrible..Sorry! Glad they found everything though..

Re: I was just a victim of theft!
thanks ladies! I'm actually a bit jumpy still...apparently, this REALLY weird guy was roaming the building, and since I never left my desk for more than 2 minutes, they think he was watching me to see when I would go. EW! Just gives me the willies....
it's really sad - you really can't trust anyone.
I'm just glad I got my planner back!

Re: I was just a victim of theft!
That is sooo awful What a jerk.
The sad part is a lot of theft takes place in office buildings since people can pretty much roam the floors alone. Even if a card key is needed to access certain floors, there are usually internal stairs for the thieves to use.
And lets not forget about the cleptos who work for your company. Friends have had CD players, laptops & cash stolen. One woman even had a small baby blue elephant bank stolen from her office - a bank that she put moneyin for her child. Only someone who worked closely with her would have even known it was there since it was kind of hidden.
We used to have e-mails a few times a month sent by people asking for their 'borrowed' items to be returned i.e., 'whomever borrowed my laptop from my office, please bring it back ASAP.'
It's horrible this happened to you but I'm so glad you got your planner back

Re: I was just a victim of theft!
Are there any cameras in the building? Maybe that's the way to catch the jerk. That's what they did at my office. Unbeknownst to tons of people, they had cameras installed in the public spaces.
