I was lurking on the Knot and now I'm second-guessing my HM

Most of the brides in their Honeymoon Bio had pretty negative things to say about Sandals St. Lucia. They said the food was average and it wasn't as romantic. I heard completely the opposite prior to my booking. Should I be concerned?

If anything I can always book something else, nothing is in contract with my TA. She said I can change my mind before the last payment is due, and deposit is refundable.

What do you think? I thought the AI was a great deal, considering my FH and I are drinkers and lovers of food.

I have only heard good things!

Go to tripadvisor.com and read the reviews - maybe that will help you.

Oh any by the way - I think all-inclusive is an excellent thing...you don't have to worry about your meals and from what I have heard they take real good care of you - the food and drinks are in abundance!

Melissa, I think with any sort of feedback you have to put it in context. If you heard great things from people you trust then you cannot let a single experience on the Knot throw you. Ask more -- post yourself on the knot, but keep in mind that people have such different expectations and standards with everything. SOmeone was telling me I made the mistake of all time with my florist but whatever, I like them and I am the one using them. Does this make sense?

Re: I was lurking on the Knot and now I'm second-guessing my HM

I personally know someone from St. Lucia and he raves about the Sandals resorts. He says they're 'beautiful and dreamy'. Don't place too much importance on other people's reviews, not everyone likes AI (I love it; because I LOVE to drink and eat...LOL...I'm a lush!), plus the savings in great! I think you can't go wrong with your choice. Now that I think of it, someone from work (high level mgmt at a very 'prestigious' jewelry retailer) was saying to another co-worker that her husband and she were pleasantly surprised at how much they enjoyed themselves in Sandals Grande St. Lucian. She thought she would hate it (she's picky) but loved it. Go with your gut!

Best wishes!

ETA: So, I obviously cannot spell...sorry!

I agree with Deb...
this has to be put into perspective. I think you should do some more research, before making any hasty decisions. Maybe they went there expecting something completely different?

I would do some more research. And, if you like what you see, don't worry about it! There will ALWAYS be SOME negative opinion about ANYTHING!

Re: I was lurking on the Knot and now I'm second-guessing my HM

My next door neighbor just got married and went to Sandals St. Lucia. She said it was heaven and that we should go there as well. Go to tripadvisor.com and check it out. They have many reviews there also. I use that site all the time to find out others opinions on resorts and hotels.

Re: I was lurking on the Knot and now I'm second-guessing my HM

I dont have any personal experiences with St. Lucia but I think you should do more research before you make a hasty decision. There must be a good reason you and your FH chose it in the first place. There are people on the knot that bash my limo company and I am not going to change my decision because of that. Good luck.

Re: I was lurking on the Knot and now I'm second-guessing my HM

I went to tripadvisor and there were some bad reviews, but the overall consensus was very positive. I dont' think I would necessarily switch my HM in seconds because of one bad review, I guess I just needed some assurance because of the amount of $ we're spending. Thanks for your input girls

I wouldn't worry about those bad reviews, unless it was all bad....I was in St. Lucia this past summer and I passed by that resort. OMG is all I have to say....it's beautiful! Also look at this picture...this is Marigot Bay in St. Lucia...right around the corner from your resort...

Re: I was lurking on the Knot and now I'm second-guessing my HM

I'm the queen of second guessing, but I have finally learned that most bad reviews are about things that wont really matter...People complain about food because they expect 5 star service, C'mon, does everyone eat that way? Anything above Mc Donalds for me is pretty good. As far as service goes, Well what does it maean really? A wait for check-in, so what you;ll be excited just to be there, Think of it that way. I wouldnt be worried!!

My cousin went last December for her honeymoon and they loved it. The did say the food wasn't spectular but it was good. It all depends on what you are looking for.

Re: I was lurking on the Knot and now I'm second-guessing my HM

Hey, my FH and I are seriously conscidering Sandals Grande St. Lucia. I have heard really good things about it too. My friend just went on a cruise that stopped in St lucia...and she visited the resort and said it was awesome! unlike you guys me and my FH arent big drinkers or eaters so we dont know if all inclusive is for us. I feel like we are paying so much just for food. So that is why we are in a dilema. But we'll figure it out soon i guess. our other options are st thomas or the bahamas. Let me know what happens. But it seems like a great place from what i hear.
