I Was Robbed Yesterday!

Original post by SoonToBeMrsBrady

Ladies:
I took off of work yesterday and left my house about 12:15pm to go to a few stores. I was back by 2:30pm and my house was robbed. I think it was my cleaning lady because there was no break in and she's had a key to my apartment for almost 2 years...that's how long she's been working for us. She cleaned my house on Friday and came back yesterday, thinking I would be at work, but I wasn't. I think she had an accomplice and they watched me leave the house and went in. Me and FH were saving our change for the honeymoon in an empty 5 gallon water bottle. It wasn't full, but there had to be $1,000 worth of change in there and there is no way she took that out by herself. She also took my Movado watch, Michael Kors watch, FH's Bulova watch, my Canon Powershot digital camera, FH's Sony digital video camera and 2 of our iPod's. That's all that I've noticed so far. My house was not ransacked or torn apart...someone knew where all of these things were....Bam...the Cleaning Lady did it....but I have no proof. Thank god, I insured my engagement ring, which means that I do have renters insurance...which I am so grateful for...but it's the point, ya know? For any ladies out there who do not have their ring insured or their possesions in their house, you may want to think about it. She knew we were planning a wedding....and she goes and robs us...LOSER...What goes around comes around.

wow...i am so sorry...that is just awful!!! what is your next move now? if any???

I spoke to a detective last night and I am going to wait a few weeks....act like nothing happened....ask her to come to my house on a specific day to clean because I'm having a party at my house (I've done this a few times before, so it's not out of the ordinary)....and the detective will be inside my house waiting for her....and then he'll ask her questions and put the pressure on and hopefully she'll crumble in front of him....and then BAM...her *** is going back to Ecuador.

holy c**p! I'm just reading this now and am appalled!!!!! you're right, what a complete loser!!! what goes around comes back around!!! I hope they can find her guilty and she goes to jail!
you seem to be handling this like a rock star, you go girl!

I think I am handling it better, just knowing that I had renters insurance and can claim all of this stuff....God, I am so happy I insured my engagement ring.....if any of you, have not done so...please go and insure your ring....which will either mean you'll have to buy renters or homeowners insurance.

I'm so sorry that something like this happened to you!
I truly believe in karma and what goes around will go around.
I am praying that they catch her and her accomplice too and lock them up and throw away the key for a few years to teach her a lesson.

Was she someone that you privately hired or through a company/agency??

Re: I Was Robbed Yesterday!

Update: This dumb biotch is coming back to my house to clean tomorrow. I spoke with the detective on the case 3 weeks ago and came up with this plan, which is working so far. I called her on Monday, left a message on her cell, that I had family coming in this weekend and that I would need her to come on Thursday. I also mentioned that I had a gift for the baby for her...hahahahaha!
She called me back within 5 minutes and agreed to come on Thursday. So tomorrow, when she gets to my house, I will be hiding because I am usually not home when she is there, but FH will be there, because that wouldn't be unusual. Once she gets there, I have to call the detective and he's coming over to ask her to come to the precint for questioning. Once he gets there, is when I pop out...hahahahahha. I think she'll get scared and go with him, but she has the right to say no too, and if she does, then he has the right to ask for all of her information, which we didn't have before. I'm a little nervous about this, but I just hope it all works out and I get my stuff back. I'm kind of hoping she brings her newborn with her, so the detective can scare her into thinking that ACS is going to be called....I just hope she buckles under pressure. If I get all of my stuff back, I won't press charges, but the cops won't let her just walk away...They said that she has to be taught that you can't steal from people. The least he could give her is a desk appearance.
I'm going to Florida tomorrow night for the weekend....but I will definitely update this thread before I leave for the airport tomorrow.
Wish me luck girls. I really do just want all of my stuff back. I know I have the renter's insurance...but I'd rather not make any claims and just get these sentimental things back!

Please do let us know what happens!

**Just a tidbit - you don't need renter's insurance to insure a ring. I got my ring insured through Jeweler's Mutual, which is totally separate from my renter's insurance, which I have through MetLife.
