I was so close to being able to join you girls...

I was so close to being able to join you girls...

I found a breeder.
She's expecting a litter a week from tomorrow. We wouldn't be taking our puppy home until the end of May.

The timing was perfect girls.

Except DH doesn't feel we're financially stable enough to buy and care for a puppy right now, and it's mainly because I haven't found a job down here yet. I just feel like it's all my fault that we can't bring our baby girl home. I'm really upset about this, I was really looking forward to being a Puppy Mommy. I mean, I lost Biscut just before Thanksgiving, and now it's like I'm losing another.

Sorry, I just wanted a place to vent, because no one seems to understand why I'm so upset.

I am so sorry!
Are you sure that you can't?
I didn't think that we could either - but my DH made it work. I have been unemployed since my wedding and we got a puppy about 2 months ago. Besides the initial shots and stuff, it really isn't that bad.

Thanks, girls.

Well, I'm not so sure that we can't, but I'm not really up to arguing the point because I'm so bad with finances (which is part of the reason we have so many bills!!!).

The puppy I want is $900 and she'll already have her first two shots and a microchip, but we'll have to spay her and keep up with the shots and buy new doggie things and train her etc.

Aw! I am sorry you are disappointed. What kind of dog were you going to get?

Puppies can be expensive, but there are ways to make it work. See if you can get a crate off of E-bay, call your local shelter and see if they offer spays at a discounted rate. I have seen local pet supply stores offer vaccinations at reduced rates. What kind of dog do you want?

I wanted to get a red or apricot Miniature Poodle. I grew up with a Poodle and I miss him very much. I found this lovely breeder and everything. The dogs have a lifetime guarantee against blindness and hip displaysia - the two things that ended my dog's life - and come with a microchip. It just seems like the breeder is so reputable too.

I think the hardest part is that I don't know if I can convince DH to change his mind.

get a part time job just to cover the expenses. you guys deserve this and yeah, dogs are expensive, but it is at first. can you maybe borrow from your mom? also, ask the breeder when she plans on another litter b/c if you can wait maybe she'll hold a puppy from the next bunch. much luck!

How about adopting. There are sooooo many pets that need homes, you don't have to 'buy' your companion.

Try this site:www.petfinder.org

Breeding is the leading cause of homeless animals staying homeless, according to the Humane Society and the ASPCA....

If I could, I would. I have looked at petfinder extensively before this post even, however I really need a purebred dog, or mix of a dog that doesn't shed due to allergies (both mine and DH's).

I have been looking for a job, really I have. Things have been tough because the industry I'm in requires more than just sending a resume to 8000 places and hoping you get a phone call. But day by day it's getting closer, and I should have a job soon. ::fingers and toes crossed::
