I was so happy today and then I get an email :(

My best friend for the last 20 years, a BM in my wedding (she moved to FLA) just told me that not only cant she be in my wedding, but that she cant even come to my wedding!

She had a great job for the last 5 years in FL, she met a guy who asked her to move with him to Tampa and she could work for his friend's payroll company....all was good for 4 months. She got laid off 2 weeks ago, the guy she moved in with has now decided that he doesnt want a relationship because he wants to go back to school in NYC, so now she has no where to live and no job! I told her that I would pay for her dress and buy her plane ticket but she said its not right for me to pay for her! She said that she will send me a gift, I said dont you dare, either save your money or buy a ticket, you can stay in our house.

We are on the phone now crying to each other....I am so upset right now

I would do that, but Steph is a very head strong person, not one for handouts, in HS if she borrowed a dollar, she would have it back to me at the end of the day...she is very independent.

That's so sad!

Check prices for airfare. NY to Florida is very cheap right now. Check Jet Blue. ALSO...Delta just came out with a new cheaper division...I can't remember the name of it...my cousins is coming to my wedding on it and it was like $160 round trip.

I hope everything works out. I would try to get her here. If she is such a good friend, it'll be worth it and you'll be glad you did!

I am so sorry to hear that. I hope she does take you up on your offer to let you buy her dress and ticket. Maybe she will change her mind. She may need some time to soak up all that has been happening to her. She may feel that she doesn't want to put you out with all the expense that you have with planning the wedding.
What a wonderful friend you are to offer to pay for these things for her.
I hope it all works out for you....Please keep us posted.

I'm checking flights from Fort Myers to JFK now, I'm going to tell her if she wants to give me a gift, her presence at my wedding is what I want!

If it takes some pressure off, tell her she doesn't have to be in the bridal party -- then the only financial burden is the plane ticket. Perhaps she won't feel as bad then...

Well I told her that I'm sending the tickets, she said not to do anything until tonight. I told her that she can stay in our house or she can stay with my mom (who is just like HER mother), so she is thinking about it
