I was thinking about resizing my ring BUT ...

I really don't want them to break it to resize it. On the BHB board I saw a post about asking your jeweler to put beads or something like that to have a snug fit and if you want it back to the size you started they melt down the beads. I can't find that post. Did anyone ever hear of that? My ring is somewhat big and I really would like to make it smaller. Any suggestions?

Michelle,

I heard about the beads also, but do u have to go the jeweler whom you got your ring from?? My ring is kinda big also, its constantly sliding around on my finger and im always touching the diamond.. let me know if u hear anything else about it...

Yes I know what you mean mine slides around my finger too. Well, if you have to leave your ring for them to put the beads on I definitely don't want to leave it with anyone other than the jeweler that it was purchased from. But I don't know how it works. I will definitely let you know if I hear anything and you please do the same.

Just something to think about: (because I did) your ring will be much more snug in the summer- everyone's hands swell a little in warm weather.

i have the same problem! my ring constantly slides from side to side and rarely stays upright. the problem is my knuckle is so big that i can't make it any smaller!! i don't know what to do.

my grandma had those beads put on her ring and i am having them put on my ring in 2 weeks hopefully. its a simple procedure, jsut go to your jewler. it keeps your ring snug she says.

I had a small adjuster fit into the bottom...it really helps especially since my finger constantly changes sizes with the weather. I don't want to resize it.

Do you know what exactly the bead thing is? What do they do? Do you have to leave your ring or do they do it within a couple of hours?
Sorry I'm asking all these questions but I'm interested in getting that done but no nothing about it.

I am going to have the beads put in my ring in the summer. For right now I just have a ring guard on my ring. It moved so much before we put it on. Now it still moves, but not as much.

I don't want to get mine resized because I had it resized when I first got it (it was too small) then I lost a lot of weight and now it's really swimming on my finger. But I know my fingers will swell in the summer and it should be better then.

If you get the beads or the ring guard, is it permanent or can you easily remove it?

The jeweler told me that they have to heat it and then out them on...I don't think they are permanant

I had mine resized a couple of months ago...I didn't want to put the beads inside bc some people told me it you have to get use to the feeling...FH brought my ring back to the jewler & they resized it...you can never tell by looking at the ring that I had it resized

i had the beads put in my ring - really so it wouldn't turn and had trouble resizing

i left my ring over night at the jewlers- they may have been able to do it faster but i was leaving it with a family friend

i think it cost me about $50 because they used platinum for the beads and that is really expensive now

I think it all depends on the jeweler but I have beads in mine- it was too big but its all engraved around the band and I didn't want to cut away the engraving.

My jeweler (Gross in Garden City) did it for free. It took 10 minutes and they do it with you standing next to them so the ring never leaves your sight to prevent concern of switching the diamond etc. Its very comfortable. They are easy for the jeweler to remove so if your finger swells in the summer you can remove them and add them again in the winter etc. With my jewler all of that is free and I get a free cleaning whenever i go to the store (lifetime guarantee). I originally had a ring guard but it scratched my ring so I strongly encourage having the balls put in - its comfortable and doesnt damage the ring!!
