I went to the craft store this weekend. I wanted to see if I would like it better that Michaels. Unfortunately I did not. The only thing that I did like was that yarn was on sale for $1.88 and usually it is almost three dollars at michaels so I got three of them different kinds of multi colors.
Joanne's kind of stinks, sorry if that offends anybody

Re: I went to Joanne's craft store.
The Sayville location is a lot better than the one near Babylon - I thought that one was dirty and sparsely stocked - looked kind of like a dollar store.
The Sayville location has a pretty good selection of stuff that's updated frequently and since it's right next to the grocery store I shop at, it's easy to pop in.
They also honor coupons from Michaels and AC Moore too, along with sending their own and you can use their coupons and the other two stores, so all in all, I find them convenient to have around.

Really? I like the Joanne's near me ( in Nyack--Rockland County) It is pretty big & has tons of yarn. But we didn't have Michaels here in Westchester until this summer, so I couldn't be too picky.

Re: I went to Joanne's craft store.
I think AC Moore and MIchaels is MUCH better then Joann's. I went in their the other day to buy Bubbles and I almost walked out- They had 1 register, and people everywhere looking for help - then 1 girl came up to the register and asked the girl if someone could help her and the worker snotted back that 'Well what do you want me to do? Im the only one here- Find it on your own' I was fuming......I mean she was sooooooo snotty- She looked DRUNK TOO!!!!!! I will never go there again. If I wasnt already rung up- I would have left.

I have no idea on the NOCD, but I have to agree...Joanne's is junky...especially the one in West Babylon...I agree..it does look like an old dollar store, no one is helpful (I asked if they carried vellum paper & they asked me what it was!!!!!!!!)

Joanne's does stink.
I did most of my wedding DIY stuff through online paper stores and AC Moore (Michael's tends to be overpriced in my opinion)
As a beginner knitter, I find Wal-mart, AC Moore and Michael's to be my faves . . .

Joanne is really more of the fabric store. It's more for quilters craft.

Joannes is really good for fabrincs and materials. they always have great sales on that stuff. as far as actual crafty items... it really isnt the place

I like Joanns, just not the one by my house. Sometimes the people who work there are very unorganized and don't pay attention to their customers.

Re: I went to Joanne's craft store.
You should try your hand at making your own jewelry. There is a store in Bellmore Village called Beads n' Stitches that had a major write-up in Newsday last Monday. They have the largest selection of beads and jewelry making supplies on long island. They have classes also.
