It's funny though... I've always been heavy and when I was a 14/16, I was soooo comfortable with my body, I was outgoing and confident and I fel super sexy and I had NO problem with guys. I'd be happy if I was never thinner than that. So I understand what you feel like to not be comfortable whre you are but at the same tim eI'd be so happy to be where you are! lol So it's funny how everything is relative for people.
And Cat... stupic chocolate? Stupid LAW SCHOOL!
You said it Jamie!!! I never knew that extra pounds was part of the tuition too!!!
I completely agree with you. It's so different for everyone. I cannot stand it when girls who are a size 2 are complaining about how they use to be a size 0!!! Soooooo annoying. I know I'm never going to be skinny and I'm fine with not being skinny. I just want to be comfortable in my own skin. I hate my body right now.

I def agree go with changing your eating habits like eating when you're hungry (if you starve yourself, your body goes into starvation mode and when you do eat, the food goes to all your bad places, like your hips and your behind), eating smaller portions, drinking more water and def exercising!! Dont do a crazy flip flop diet that will have you losing 20 pounds in 30 days and gaining 30 pounds the following month!
But on a side note, you are beautiful no matter what size you are. I read somewhere that when looking at wedding dresses, dont get hung up on the 'size' but focus on whether or not the dress looks good on you. When i forst started dress shopping, I was so sad because I thought I looked like a giant white cupcake! But thats because the dresses I was choose just didnt fit my body type. For the longest time, I used to go up and down with my weight and it was so frustrating esp. because everyone in my family is skinny! So i decided one day to love my size, no matter what size it was and just try to stay fit. I eat properly and exercise regularly and rarely go on a scale! And I am happy
So no matter what, you are beautiful in a size 16, size 12, size 8! Good Luck!
Sireeda, that was so sweet!! My weight has always been up and down too. But, now it's just going up!!! Most of my family members are also skinny, especially my sister!!! I just wish I had her metabolism. I think mines on vacation!!

$$$$. I wish I could. I did it while I was working in Manhattan and getting paid decently. Naturally, I had to throw that all away and go back to school!!
I wish I could figure out how to make rolls or where to buy sashimi.

Re: I will not go looking for a wedding dress....
I lost 70lbs on Atkins a few years ago. It wasn't the healthiest though. I eventually gained 40 of those back, and to lose it, I have done a much healthier diet, and actually work out. I have lost those 40 in the last 6 months or so, and want to lose 10 more additional pounds. The biggest thing to remember is to eat, but eat the right foods. I eat 5-6 small meals a day (compromised of mostly fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean meats and very little fat) and it keeps me energized all day and my metabolism going. Also, exercise. Start out with something small, and increase it as you get stronger.

Re: I will not go looking for a wedding dress....
I have really high cholesterol so my doctor just put my on a low fat diet and I've dropped 15 pounds without really dieting at all.
NO red meat NO white flour Everything low fat When you want a snack, go with fruit or something like sugar-free jello, low fat cool whip, etc. Fruit for breakfast, no carbs in the morning.
I don't really have time to exercise b/c I work and I'm in law school so walking about a mile a day (to and from my office, etc.) is the only real exercise I do.

Sparkpeople.com <------------------------
I highly highly highly recommend it! It's how I lost my post-pregnancy weight (about 30 pounds in less than 5 months) and now I'm at the same weight I was in high school. I still want to lose about 10-15 more pounds before the wedding, but at that point I will be the lowest weight I've been since middle school!
It's totally free, counts everything for you (food and exercise), has a recipe calculator and is completely inspirational. I love it there!
(oh and my screen name over there is hobbitkitty. you can put me as a referral if you want!)

I think it's really important to include exercise along with your diet. Find something you enjoy doing-there are many different ways to burn those extra calories (although don't fall into the 'well i went to the gym so I can have that cake' routine)! In terms of diet I don't think you should do anything extreme because you'll never maintain the weight lose. I always find cooking your own meals is very helpful- you can control exactly what you are eating (a lot of take-out, even salads, have tons of hidden calories)!

Re: I will not go looking for a wedding dress....
don't worry too much about the size... wedding dresses always run SMALL! people who normally wear a 4 in clothes end up wearing a 8 or 10 in wedding clothes.
