as I walk down the isle!!! I got contacts just for that specific reason today!! Such a weird feeling touching your eye like that! haha
I gotta tell ya though....I have a slight headache from them, is that normal? & you had to see me on the way home from work, it was like I was seeing a whole new world...lol
Question: Is it safe to wear them in the ocean? beach? or should I leave them out when on the beach on our honeymoon.

Re: I will now be able to see my FH....
I have worn contact since I was 11. So they are like second nature to me at this point. But I think I remember having a few headaches when I first got them. You will also sometimes get a headache at night when they have been in all day. As far as the beach/pool/shower goes.. i wear them EVERYWHERE. There is always the potential for them to get dry and fall out. But I wear Focus Dailies so it's not that big of a deal to lose one.
Congrats and enjoy seeing everything in a much clearer light now :)!

OMG I got contacts today too, my eyes are soo irritated right now, and I had a hell of a time getting them in and especially out on my own!! But they are so worth it to be able to see what is going on without glasses!!!!!! The girl at the vision place told me that if I am going to the beach for a short time its OK to keep them in, but not to wear them if I am going to be in the ocean or pool for a long time

Re: I will now be able to see my FH....
contacts....first...yes the headaches are normal....i know when i got mine they said to wear them progressively more each day to get your eyes used to them
and as far as the ocean/beach/shower/pool...i do wear them everywhere....but i must say that i have to close my eyes really tight because i do find that sometimes the pressure from jumping in the pool or the waves, or even the shower pressure can make the contact move and it like shuffles up to under the eyelid...it's not painful, it can't get lost, but it's kinda annoying the first few times to try to find it.....so that has been my only problem....
but OMG....I was never more excited to be able to take a shower and be able to see what i was shaving like normal people do...and then to go to the beach and still be able to see...it was a great feeling!!!!! Good luck

Re: I will now be able to see my FH....
yay!!! isnt it crazy! you feel like youre seeing things for the first time. i got contacts yrs ago but before i went it to get my eyes checked i didnt realize at all how blurry my sight had become! not until i put the contacts in.
id take them out when you go in water. if i try to wear them in a pool or something, it feels weird and gets all blurry and sticks to my eye and hurts. Bring glasses w/ you for when you get out of the water.
the headache for a little bit is normal, as it is when you get new glasses, youre just adjusting.

oh just adding that when i do wear them in the ocean i always take them out when i get home and rinse them with solution really well, because i am scared that some beach water somehow got into my eye and that some little microscopic animal is going to give me an infection (i know crazy, but it makes me feel better)

I was actually ready to cry today and told my FH that I didnt think my eyes are 'compatible' with contacts b/c they were so irritated after trying to get them out myself!!

if you are new at wearing contacts then give it time...it takes time for your eyes to adjust and get comfortable to them....there are also so many different types of contacts now that you can try
i was the type of girl that was trying to get contacts since i was 16, but could never put my finger in my eye....finally about 4 years ago my best friend got married and i was determined to not be in everyone's wedding pics with glasses on....the first week i cried when i had to put them in and take them out, but i managed and now i'm a pro

Congrats! You'll never want to go back now! You can do anything with your contacts in... just don't sleep in them and don't open your eyes under water with them in.

Congrats!
I've been wearing contacts for over 10 years now and at first, there were headaches. As your eyes adjust though, it goes away.
I also wear them everywhere--pool and beach. Just be careful because the water may cause them to shift...contrary to popular belief, they can't get lost in the back of your head but it is a pain to find them when they've shifted WAY back.
Isn't the world so much clearer now? I hate wearing the glasses when I have to because it's not as clear as the contacts.

wait til you get LASIK!!! that right there is a born again feeling! i wore contacts since i was 15 til about 21...i has Lasik done and it was life-changing. contacts are great, but depending on which kind you have, you have to take care of them differently. i know when i had mine the first couple of days felt like there was an eyelash stuck in my eye and it annoyed the hell out of me. i did wear them to the beach/the pool but you have to be very careful. they definitely fall out if you aren't wary. congrats on getting contact though!!!

So much clearer!! But since I'm near sighted my eyes are a little blurry sitting at my computer b/c they need to adjust!

congrats!
the headaches are probably just your eyes trying to adjust to them.. Ive had contacts for 14 years now and they never both me.
and you can wear them anywhere! Beach, swimming, even to sleep. You just have to learn how to properly rub your eyes. Make the wrong move and they'll pop out!

I do not know what I did before contacts, so in the off chance I have to wear my glasses again I hate it!

I got headaches at first too. It will take some time to get used to them, but once you do the headaches should stop & it won't even be so bad touching your eye anymore
I would take them out at the beach if you're going to go in the ocean. I accidentally forgot to take mine out to go swimming a couple of times & they got all foggy & they started to burn as they dried later on. Plus, I had one fall out in the pool once. You may loose them in the ocean.

Very cool!!..
btw.. my BF was blind as a bat... and went and had the lakik surgery. He sees perfectly now and said its the best thing he's ever done. He's gone snorkeling since and said that it had been a lifes dream.
My GF went and had it done a few months ago and says it has changed her life.
Just an fyi for anyone thinking of this procedure. Its amazing!!!!
