I wired my house with phone lines and cable boxes.
What a big job, but we wound up saving about $700 by doing it ourself.
The materials cost about $300, but when I when I looked at how much the contractor would have cost us $65 a line. We put in 7 phone lines and 8 cable lines, since the walls are still open.
We also put in the surround sopund spreaker wire too, so we probably saved even more, I don't know what they charge for that.

Isn't it crazy how much they charge for that!!
DH did all the hi-hats in the house with his uncle.. it would have cost us approx 125 for each reg. hi hat and 150 for hte eyeballs.. it cost him about 500 bucks in materials and he and hsi uncle did it in a matter of 5-6 hours! ridiculous..
Also, your home is gorgeous!! Congrats! I wish you all the best!! I'm sure you are soo excited!!!

your lucky you have someone who knows what they're doing....my DH wouldn't have a clue! We'd need to suck it up and pay the ridiculous fee!

My dad knew what he was doing, and I had a bit of a clue, and we learned as we went along. Now I can strip cables and crimp the ends on!!

this is why I am so happy that I married an electrician who also knows construction, plumbing, HVAC etc....

wow that is great, we just got the optimum voice and they only hook up one phone line I am clueless where to even start adding the other lines on.
