Okay...so. I went to the Bridal Expo tonight (At the Marriott in Uniondale) and they gave out tote bags to put the free magazines in. Inside my tote bag (provided by The Wedding Center) was an envelope, which had a piece of paper in it stating that they put some of these into their bags and that we won a vacation. Either a 2 night stay at a hotel or a 2/3/4 or 5 night cruise. They said there's no gimmicks, no strings, nothing. Obviously it sounds too good to be true...
...so I went in to talk to them at The Wedding Center table. Obviously the guy was kinda pushy and tried to sell me on a lot of stuff, but he says the same thing, no strings attached, no timeshares or anything, why would he want to piss me off and rip me off when he wants my business, etc...I guess it also helps to say that they were raffling off 2 cruises during the bridal show, and that it was the same thing as my voucher (and from the same people).
I guess what I'm asking is...can I get excited?? I feel like this is legit, but I also know that The Wedding Center doesn't have the greatest reputation when it comes to customer service, so I'm a little nervous (I know they called LIW girls and said they were from LIW and that they had won a gift certificate...). I guess I gotta go there and see what the voucher actually says, but I was wondering if anyone has actually used them for something like this and won something like this through them and it was okay?
Well was it the wedding center or wedding world? there are 2 in the same neighborhood...

Don't fall for that gimmick. I received the same thing for a trip voucher that was good for a year. The lady called me to pick up the voucher at the Marriott Hotel near JFK where she was hosting a seminar. When I asked her if I could come by myself to pick them up, I was told I had to arrive with DH to claim the prize. They also want us to try their cookware and supposedly, they had a chef who was going to prepare us food samples and see if we were interested in the product line. After re-scheduling numerous meetings due to her out of state bridal shows and expos, I gave up and let it go. She did called me once upon her return but I didn't bother with the call. Bottom line is if it was not a gimmick to get couples to buy their products or involve some kind of sale, they would not be promoting or giving out prizes. And if it was a legit prize, it would had been awarded through mail either by check or notification through a letter. Honestly, don't waste your time with the expos unless it's sponsored by a reputable company or business.

Well it says right on the paper that you have to pay the port fees and taxes and everything, but that otherwise its free...and really $1000 for a cruise is a really good deal lol.
Also there's no # to call, they say I have to go to the store to claim the voucher which I guess means they'll try to sell me on tuxes or flowers or limos or something but I have no problem saying I'm not interested lol.

It is like those free tickets to Disney World or free trips tp Las Vegas in which they pressure you to buy things. My friend and her husband travel for free all the time like this and at the end they put down all fake info
