GTGs never really get a huge response. I know for myself I am very shy and always feel weird showing up 'by myself.' Often times I can't make it.
It would be so nice for the GTGs to have a bigger turn out (even though I have not yet been to one myself, I just notice not very many people respond.)
If you don't go, what is your reasoning?

I would LOVE to go to one. Ive only been on this site since November so there has only been one GTG (other than the WOTY). I am sure I will be at the next one!

I definately agree. I am shy around 'new' people. And I have challenges going into a place by myself. If I did go to a GTG, I'd like to meet up with 1 person and go together.
I know the '06 girls have been trying to plan a GTG since at least Nov.
Also for me, I work M-F 9-5:30pm in Plainview and live in Queens and I work Sat 9-2 in Oceanside. So for me to trek east, especially on my 'sacred' saturday afternoons or sundays, it's tough. Or meeting 'after work' in Manhattan, not good for me.

I'll try to go to one if I am available. The Classless Group gets together often enough. We met up today for dinner.
Maybe we will organize an official Classless GTG in Manhattan one day and invite whoever can show.

I'm a bit shy. Combine that with the fact that I did once venture out to meet women from a web site. I was single and wanted single friends, and to make a long story short, one of the women (there were about 6 of us who'd get together once or twice a month) became very jealous of the closeness between two of the girls and said and did some awful things to them and the rest of us for that matter. Lying, pointing fingers, etc. It was bad. Thus I've been wary- this woman seemed normal online but clearly had some big time issues and hurt several people badly.

I went to one in December - and had so much fun! Being in Virginia most of the time, I usually can't make it. I'll be on LI for most of the summer, though, and look forward to being able to go to a few

For the first year and a half of being a LIW member, I didn't go to any GTGs. I lived in Staten Island and it was a pain, and I always figured I'd rather hang out with my 'real' friends. I hardly had time to see them, so why would I hang out with people I didn't even know? Once I got married and moved to Queens, I decided to go to my first newlywed GTG and had a great time. Since then, I've been to 2 others, plus the WOTY, and I'm going to one for each of the next 3 weeks!! Even though I can be shy around new people, I've had a ton of fun and found everyone to be really welcoming and friendly.
There's a newlywed GTG on 2/13 at 1pm. We already have 15 people going!!

My first GTG was 2004 WOTY. Shortly after that I went to a GTG at Chilis. I was a little nervous for that one but once I got htere I had a great time. Now I have GTGs all the time. There are a few girls who work/live near me so we do a local GTG. I usually don't do the travelling ones. We go out for dinner after work on a weeknight usually. I did one Saturday lunch and 1 friday night I believe. I think I did 7 GTGs last year, and 3 weddings Bri now that I know you live close by try to come to the GTGS! We used to organize them on the 04 board but now mostly on NWR.

I live out of state, so that's the reason I don't go. I really would have loved to go to WOTY though!

A get together of LIW girls!
I usually can't make it or it way out of my way. That's why I haven't gone. But I am shy around new people so that makes me a little bit nervous about them but I still would definitely like to go. The Newlyweds are planning one that I'm going to try to make and it would be my first since being on this board since 2003!

i am usually shy but i took a chance and went to a dec gtg and i had a blast. Life is all about being brave and if i let my fear take over , i would be missing out on having met some wonderful ladies

I personally would love to go to GTG's now. Hopefully they are all in Suffolk near my house, I hate to travel.
I am at a stage in my life where I lost a bunch of friends and I am looking forward to making new friends

i have to admit - i went to a gtg maybe two years ago? - but its hard, i am not on that much and would also often feel weird going alone since i wouldn't know many people....i do want to add though that they are fun and everyone on here i have met is sweet.....its just taking that big step that is hard!

i'm shy around new people. believe it or not, i planned a nyc gtg after work one friday nite. we had about 10 people. we had a lot of fun. i've been to 2 more since then. some of the gtg's are hard for me since they're in l.i. since i don't have a car, its hard to get to them.
