I would ask for advice..but I dont think there will be any...

so Ill settle for some hugs...here is my story.

I really wanted to do a father/daughter dance (im sure every bride wants that) I had the song picked out and everything...so I bring it up to the my fathers attention and he tells me he is not going to dance with me..(sounds bad, but he didnt mean it in a mean way) hes kinda a shy person and doesnt go out much, let alone dance in front of a hundred people. I started to cry (in private of course) my mom told hiim I was crying he felt bad but he said hes not going to do it..he said 'I am not going to look stupid in front of all those people' I told him its a quick slow dance...that doesnt involve knowing how to dance, but he still refuses. I know he sounds like an evil person right about now, but I understand where he is coming from. Like I said before..hes very shy and embarrases easily. If you have any advice please share..if not please just some hugs..Thanks girls...I am hoping he changes his mind as the wedding approaching, but I dont think he wil.
Thanks for listening girls

Give him some time, I am sure your mom can talk to him about it a bit more.

aw Millie, Im sorry-i told my dad I will kick his rear if he didnt want to-but he did so it made my life easier.

What if you still play the song and you have the DJ ask everyone to join you in a slow dance? This way you will still get to dance with him-maybe not alone but you will get the pics and you will have that moment with him? Or is he not down for dancing at all?

Hmmmm, maybe he would agree to dance with you if you do it at the same time as your FH and his mom? That way the focus wouldn't only be on the two of you....

Awe, I'm so sorry. Maybe you can talk to him and tell him that it doesn't have to be rehearsed or anything. Also, maybe you can find a short song or have it end in the middle and then dance with FI's dad for the rest of it?

This is a good idea. He doesnt really dance at all. Dont get me wrong, he does KNOW how to dance (but he does it in private with just his immediate fam.) but def. a good idea.. I will see if it will work.

I just really love the song, and it suits him perfectly....I dont really want to dance with FFIL...because I think it will ruin the song..its personal to me...I only want daddy ...but maybe ending the song early is a good idea.

That's a great idea. My dad has two left feet and him, mom, FH and I will be taking classes together.

Its a good idea, but the song wont suit FH and his mom..it would be kinda weird.

If he wont do it as a spotlight just explain to him that you would still like to at least have that with him on your wedding day if nothing else. You would both be compromising and meeting in the middle-Good Luck hun

aww, I completely believe that he is just that shy, but maybe if you wrote a sweet letter to him about why it is meaningful to you and how it's one, very important day, and only 2 1/2 little minutes, he might respond to that?

Even if it feels unnatural to you to write a note to your dad, it might really open up a little communication as far as the whole dance thing goes. It would also show him how important it is to you if you've gone out of your way to try to show him your feelings.

Aw! I would try to do everything you can (but dont, dont, dont worry yourself over it b/c that is never worth it!) But do whatever you can within reason to get him the courage to dance! It's your day!

This may be way off if he is shy in front of others, but would he want to take dance lessons with you? It might be fun and help him get the pressure off!
good luck!
