I would ask for advice..but I dont think there will be any...

so Ill settle for some hugs...here is my story.
I really wanted to do a father/daughter dance (im sure every bride wants that) I had the song picked out and everything...so I bring it up to the my fathers attention and he tells me he is not going to dance with me..(sounds bad, but he didnt mean it in a mean way) hes kinda a shy person and doesnt go out much, let alone dance in front of a hundred people. I started to cry (in private of course) my mom told hiim I was crying he felt bad but he said hes not going to do it..he said 'I am not going to look stupid in front of all those people' I told him its a quick slow dance...that doesnt involve knowing how to dance, but he still refuses. I know he sounds like an evil person right about now, but I understand where he is coming from. Like I said before..hes very shy and embarrases easily. If you have any advice please share..if not please just some hugs..Thanks girls...I am hoping he changes his mind as the wedding approaching, but I dont think he wil. Thanks for listening girls

This may be way off if he is shy in front of others, but would he want to take dance lessons with you? It might be fun and help him get the pressure off! good luck!
Def. not his thing...he wont go for it...

I have a friend who danced with her dad in the bridal suite to a song that meant a lot to both of them. This way if they cried it wouldn't be in front of everyone. They did dance during the wedding but it was to a different more up beat song. Don't know if its an idea for you, but maybe a least this way you get to dance with him on your day. Good luck how ever it turns out

I think it's important to remember that not everyone is going to be up for the usual wedding stuff. Think about why it's important to you to have the dance w/your dad. Maybe there's another thing you can do to symbolize this--maybe during your ceremony or something. Also, talk to your dj/band--maybe they have some ideas.

I think you should jsut have the DJ play the song and say 'This is for the shy father of the bride, from his daughter with all of her heart.' ANd let people dance to it. You can sit and hold his hand or give him a hug and spend time with him during the song.

oh.....
my advice is that if he really doesn't want to do it.....don't make him. Just skip that one part. During the reception, spntaneously ask him to dance and you will have that memory forever.

I agree if hes not willing to do a first dance then this may be your only option. Also if thats the case make sure you ask your videographer to capture that entire dance and moment. I know everything will work out they always do

What if he just brings you a rose?? It will only last 10-15 seconds and they can play your song in the background.
