we dated for 5 1/2 years before getting engaged!
Everyone has their own lifestyle... like I said on the 06 board, when we met I was 16! There is NO WAY that getting engaged aftre 6 months would have worked for us. Now, FH just finished his masters (in december) and I'm finishing in May... this way we can start our life the way the we want to!
I think that being with someone for so long is a blessing! I wouldn't have wanted it any other way

I saw the original post before it was pulled and I do believe you had a right to call her on it. Everyone should be allowed to live their lives free from judgement of others.
Mike and I met 7.5 years ago. We have been seriously dating for almost 4.5 years and I wouldn't have it any other way. We needed time to finish school, mature and get financially stable.

I knew that thread was going to be pulled. it was a matter of seconds.
I hope you read the thread, and saw that there are many girls who made a similar choice as you, and truly value creating and sharing a life with someone, with or without the big party and poofy dress.
I hope you also know exactly what that was about...trying to bond and make friends...trying to find a common ground with new people...what she didn't realize is that is NOT the way to do it.

Me too!! I was with my fh 5 and 1/2 years before we got engaged...I was only 19,....I needed to mature first to even consider marriage...don't let others get to youy!
