I would of almost been illegally married if not for some nice snotty people...
OK LONG story short...
My first name and middle name are wrong on my BC (amongst other things) . Don't ask, it's part of my very bizarre and maddening upbringing.
I have been wanting to change my names so bad. I was told I'd better do it before I got married b/c if I did it after, my maiden name would be obsolete (b/c I would have FH's last name). I own my apartment and that would be a nightmare.
So step one was civil court. WHAT A RIP OFF...160 dollars later...and then you have to have your NAME PRINTED in a newspaper.
They told me I had plenty of time for name change (the whole proccess was two weeks)
WHAT THEY DIDN'T TELL ME..is I wouldn't get my BC back.
NO BC no license.
I went to worth street hall of records. This was one of the worst experiences of my life.
Anyways, they told me 3 months for new BC. I went up to a supervisor who really would of rather been counting the hairs in her toothbrush then deal with me. I basically cried to her I need it in two weeks. She told me if I could prove I was getting married, she'd push it through. I went back to work, grabbed my WM contract that THANK GOD I had at work in my wedding folder paperwork, and went back.
As I walked in my number was being called lo. That's how long of a wait it was.
She said OK but they were still like snotty about it. But I was soo nice...oh and another 55 dollars later...
So I called 4 days later just to see status and it was READY!!!
I went to pick it up and first they said I had to stand in a line longer than the first of the month in the hood.
I went back to the other room I was in first time and just waited.
The kicker: The new BC was basically a xerox copy of my old one with name crossed out (that's how they do it..they have to keep original) with a raised seal.
