I went running this morning, I ran outside (rather than on the treadmill like I usually do) Anyway, my knee is really bothering me now. It started hurting right after I stopped running. Does anyone know if I should try to ice it or apply heat to it? I have tried to stretch it out but that doesn't seem to help at all! I can't figure out what I did, it didn't bother me while I was running and I didn't feel myself pull the muscle. Any other suggestions as to how to help the pain?

Re: Ice or Heat Aching Knee
Heat right after the unjury - RICE to follow up. Where did you run? Were you the side of the road or on the sidewalk?
If side of road, the road slopes down to the sides so rain runs off the road. You would have been running on a slope with one leg higher than the other - can cause knee and hip problems. To prevent injury, change it up! Run on the same side of the road on the way out and back. Or if doing a loop, change the side of the road half way through.
