Iced Coffee?

Iced Coffee?

Does anyone make this at home? Should I use more coffee to compensate for the fact that I'm going to put ice cubes in it? DD used to give away a 'recipe' for it, but I didnt see it the last time I was there...

Use less water for the coffee amount you usually use or use more coffee and same water...

yea I usually put a 1/2 scoop more in the coffee pot otherwise it ends up too watery

I tried the dd recipe a few years ago. I vaguely remember it being double the coffee and then fill with ice cubes...but honestly it was too strong for me so I went with 2 additional scoops for the 10 cups (5 tblspns of coffee) I normally make.

If you plan on making it often (or for a party or something), you can make coffee ice cubes and use the regular ratio for the actual coffee. Or just make it in advance (slightly stronger) and chill it in the fridge.

My mother makes her usual coffee and then in the afternoon puts ice cubes in it. This is a Saturday ritual for her and my sister!!

I found DD's recipe and now I want to try making it too. Love DD's ice coffee:

Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee
Make your own delicious Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee! Buy Dunkin' Donuts coffee beans online now and then follow these simple steps:

To brew a full-flavored pot of Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee, double the amount of coffee grinds you would normally brew for hot coffee*. Measure 4 level tablespoons for every 6 oz. of cold spring or filtered water you plan to brew.
After the coffee is done brewing, remove it from the burner and let cool.
Pour the coffee into a temperature safe container, and add ice until the mixture cools and doubles in volume. Keep in mind that the melting ice dilutes the coffee, which is why Iced Coffee is brewed using twice the amount of grinds at hot coffee.
To keep Iced Coffee cold and fresh, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Iced Coffee should be consumed within eight hours after brewing.
Drink as is, or add milk, cream or sugar to sweeten and lighten to taste.
To keep the remaining, unbrewed Dunkin' Donuts Coffee beans or grinds fresh, store in an opaque, airtight container in a cool dry place. Do not store in a refrigerator as grinds and beans absorb moisture and aromas around them.
* Be sure not to over fill your brew basket

Re: Iced Coffee?

I always make the coffee the regular way, and after it's made, I pour it into a cup and place it in the freezer a bit so it cools down. Then eventually I take it out, throw in a few ice cubes and fill it with my milk and sugar, and it's usually tasted good.

Re: Iced Coffee?

At starbucks we made it double strength and let it cool before we added the ice cubes.
